Overview
The Search Atlas WordPress plugin requires a minimum PHP version to function correctly. If your hosting provider runs an older or unsupported PHP version, the plugin may not install or work as expected. This article explains how to check compatibility and how to continue working with your content if the plugin cannot be installed.
PHP Version Compatibility
Before installing the Search Atlas WordPress plugin, confirm the PHP version your hosting environment is running. You can usually find this information in your hosting control panel (e.g., cPanel, Plesk) under PHP Configuration or Software Settings.
If your host is running an unsupported PHP version, the plugin will not be compatible. In that case, we recommend one of the following steps:
- Upgrade your PHP version — Most hosting providers allow you to switch PHP versions from the control panel at no extra cost. Check your host's documentation or support resources for guidance on upgrading.
- Contact your hosting provider — If you are unsure how to upgrade, ask your host's support team to update your PHP version on your behalf.
- Use an alternative content sync method — If upgrading PHP is not possible, you can still use Search Atlas to create and manage content and then transfer it to WordPress manually.
Alternative Method: Copy and Paste Content Manually
You can write and optimise content fully inside Search Atlas and then manually transfer it to WordPress without the plugin.
- Use the relevant Search Atlas content tools to create or optimise your content within the platform.
- Once your content is complete, select and copy the text from the Search Atlas editor.
- Paste it directly into the WordPress block editor or classic editor on your site.
- Apply headings, formatting, and meta details as needed within WordPress before publishing.
This method requires no plugin and works regardless of your hosting PHP version.
