This article explains how Reddit link submissions work inside Link Lab and what a Reddit publication looks like when setting one up. Reddit submissions in Link Lab are treated as link-type publications, meaning the listing captures a URL submission to a subreddit rather than a text post.
🛠️ What a Reddit Listing Looks Like in Link Lab
When you add or view a Reddit opportunity in Link Lab, the publication record typically includes the following fields:
- Publication Name: The name of the subreddit or Reddit property (e.g., r/SEO).
- Publication URL: The direct URL of the subreddit where the link will be submitted.
- Post URL / Target URL: The destination URL you are submitting — this is the link you want to appear in the Reddit post.
- Publication Type: Should be set to Link (not Guest Post or other content types), since Reddit link submissions are URL-based rather than article-based.
- Anchor Text: The clickable text for your link, if applicable. For Reddit link posts, this is typically the post title rather than inline anchor text.
- Notes: Use this field to record any relevant details about the specific subreddit rules or submission requirements.
✅ How to Fill In the Fields Correctly
- Open Link Lab in your Search Atlas platform and locate the Reddit listing or opportunity you are working with.
- Confirm the Publication Type is set to Link — this is the most common formatting mistake for Reddit entries.
- Enter the subreddit URL in the Publication URL field (e.g., https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/).
- Enter your destination page in the Post URL / Target URL field.
- In the Anchor Text field, enter the intended title of your Reddit post, since Reddit link posts use the post title as the visible text.
- Save the record and verify all fields are populated before marking the publication as active or submitted.
⚠️ What to Check If the Format Looks Wrong
If the Reddit listing in your account does not match the field structure described above, it may be due to a custom account configuration or a platform version difference. Before reaching out, note down the following to speed up resolution:
- Your exact project name in Search Atlas.
- The specific listing or record name in Link Lab.
- The field labels you see on screen and which ones appear missing or different.
- A brief description of what you expected the Reddit format to look like versus what you are seeing.
