Why Your Press Release Defaults to the Wrong Project
The Press Release tool does not include a standalone project selector on its own page. Instead, it pulls your active project from Brand Vault. If you see an unexpected project name, it means that project is currently set as your active Brand Vault profile.
Updating your active Brand Vault profile is the correct way to change which project appears in Press Release. This also applies to your Google Business Profile (GBP) project selection within Press Release.
What You Will Need Before You Start
- At least two projects already created inside Search Atlas
- A Brand Vault profile set up for each project you want to use in Press Release
- Sufficient access rights to your Search Atlas workspace
How to Switch Your Active Project in Brand Vault
- Log in to Search Atlas and navigate to Authority (Press Releases) in the left sidebar.
- Review the list of your saved brand profiles.
- Locate the profile that matches the project you want to use in Press Release.
- Within Brand Vault, set that profile as your active profile using the options available in the Brand Vault interface.
- Navigate to Authority (Press Releases) in the left sidebar.
- Confirm the project name now reflects the correct project. If it does not update immediately, refresh your browser tab and check again.
How to Set Up a Brand Vault Profile for a New Project
If the project you need does not yet have a Brand Vault profile, you must create one before it can be selected in Press Release. This also applies if you want to associate a specific Google Business Profile (GBP) with a project in Press Release.
- Go to Brand Vault and look for the option to create a new brand profile.
- Select the correct project and fill in your brand details as prompted.
- Save the new profile.
- Follow the steps in the previous section to set this new profile as your active profile.
Using Press Release After Switching Your Active Profile
Once the correct Brand Vault profile is active, Press Release will reflect that project. If you manage multiple clients or projects, remember to return to Brand Vault and switch the active profile each time you want to generate a press release for a different project.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- The project name still shows the old project after switching: Refresh your browser tab and navigate back to Authority (Press Releases). Browser cache can sometimes display stale data.
- You cannot find the option to change the active profile or the Brand Vault setup is not behaving as expected: Our support team can review your account configuration and walk you through the correct steps for your workspace.
