🧭 Overview
When you rebuild your website on the same domain — for example, migrating from WordPress to a platform like Lovable — the OTTO pixel may no longer be present on the new site, even though Search Atlas still shows a previously verified status. This article walks you through how to confirm the pixel is correctly installed on your new site and that Search Atlas is actively tracking it.
⚠️ Why This Happens
Search Atlas stores pixel verification based on a previous successful check. When you rebuild your site, the new platform replaces all existing code, which means the OTTO pixel snippet is removed along with the old site's files. Because the domain itself has not changed, Search Atlas may not automatically detect that the pixel is missing. You need to manually re-install and re-verify the pixel on the new site.
🛠️ Step 1 — Locate Your OTTO Pixel Snippet
- In the left sidebar, click OTTO SEO → All Sites (SEO Automation) to open the OTTO SEO dashboard.
- Find your website in the list and click on it to open its settings.
- Navigate to the pixel installation section and copy your unique OTTO pixel snippet.
Keep this snippet ready — you will paste it into your new website in the next step.
💻 Step 2 — Install the Pixel on Your New Site
The exact steps vary by platform, but the goal is the same: place the OTTO pixel snippet in the section of every page on your new site.
- Lovable or similar no-code builders: Look for a custom code or HTML injection setting, typically found in your project settings under "Custom Code" or "Head Tags." Paste the pixel snippet there so it loads site-wide.
- Google Tag Manager: Create a new Custom HTML tag, paste the pixel snippet, and set the trigger to fire on All Pages. Publish the container after saving.
- Direct HTML: If you have access to the site's source files, paste the snippet inside the tag of your base template or layout file.
✅ Step 3 — Verify the Pixel Is Firing
After installing the pixel, confirm it is actually loading on your live site before triggering re-verification in Search Atlas.
- Open your website in a browser and go to any page.
- Right-click the page and select Inspect (or press F12) to open Developer Tools.
- Go to the Network tab and reload the page.
- In the filter bar, search for otto or your domain's pixel identifier. You should see a network request confirming the pixel fired successfully.
- Alternatively, use a browser extension like Tag Assistant or PixelMe to detect tracking pixels on the page.
If no pixel request appears, double-check that the snippet was saved correctly in your platform's settings and that the code is not blocked by a cookie consent tool or Content Security Policy.
🔄 Step 4 — Re-Verify the Pixel in Search Atlas
- Return to OTTO SEO → All Sites (SEO Automation) in the left sidebar.
- Open your website's OTTO settings.
- Locate the pixel status indicator and click the option to re-verify or check pixel status.
- Search Atlas will make a live check of your domain. Once the pixel is detected, the status will update to active and tracking will resume for your new site.
Important: If the status shows as verified but you suspect it is stale from your old site, trigger a manual re-verification anyway. A green status is only reliable when it reflects a recent, successful check against your current live site.
🚨 Common Issues and Fixes
- Pixel not detected after installation: Confirm the snippet is placed inside the tag, not the body. Some builders place custom code in the footer by default — check your platform's settings carefully.
- Status stays "verified" but site is new: This is a stale status from your previous site. Always manually trigger re-verification after a rebuild.
- Cookie consent blocking the pixel: Make sure your cookie consent tool is configured to allow analytics and tracking scripts to load, or whitelist the OTTO pixel domain.
- Pixel fires on some pages but not others: Your snippet may be placed on a specific template rather than a global layout. Add it to a site-wide header or use Google Tag Manager with an All Pages trigger.
