📋 The Two Types of Heading Fixes OTTO Deploys
OTTO identifies heading issues in two categories, and each category is resolved in a different way.
- Missing Heading Fix: When a required heading (for example, an H1) is completely absent from the page, OTTO injects the heading into the page with a display:none style. This means the heading exists in the page's HTML and is fully readable by search engine crawlers, but it is intentionally invisible to human visitors so it does not disrupt your Wix site's visual design.
- Length Fix (Too Long or Too Short): When a heading already exists on the page but exceeds or falls below the recommended character length, OTTO replaces the heading text with an optimized version. This replacement is visually live — the updated heading text is visible to both visitors and search engines.
👁️ Why Missing Heading Fixes Look Like They Reverted
After OTTO deploys a missing heading fix, you will not see any new text appear on your Wix page. Because the injected heading is set to display:none, it is hidden from view by design. This is the most common reason customers believe their changes have reverted — the fix was successfully deployed, but it is not meant to be seen.
To confirm the fix is active, you can inspect the page source or use your browser's developer tools. The heading element will be present in the HTML with an inline display:none style. Search engines read this element and use it for indexing purposes, which is the intended outcome.
🔄 Why Length Fixes May Also Appear to Revert
If a length fix appears to have reverted, the most likely explanation is one of the following:
- Wix rendering delay: Wix sites can take a short time to reflect script-injected changes after a new page load. Try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache and checking again.
- OTTO re-evaluated the heading: If the heading was subsequently edited in your Wix editor and the text was changed again, OTTO may re-queue it for a new fix on the next optimization cycle.
- Deployment is still in progress: Large batches of fixes may take several minutes to propagate. Wait a few minutes before concluding a fix has not applied.

- A fix marked as deployed is confirmed active regardless of whether it is visible on the page.
- To verify a hidden heading in your browser, right-click the page and select View Page Source or open Inspect Element and search for your injected heading text.
