🔍 What This Article Covers

You may notice your account dashboard shows one Hyperdrive Credits total while the AI reports a lower number of credits available. This guide explains why that gap can occur and what steps you can take to investigate and resolve it.

⚠️ Why the Numbers Don't Match

There are common reasons your displayed balance and your AI-reported available credits can differ:

  • Cached data sync delay: The dashboard figure reflects a snapshot that may be behind real-time usage. The AI draws from a live usage ledger, so it may show a lower number if credits were consumed recently and the display cache has not yet refreshed.
  • Usage tracking lag: When a batch job (such as a large citation run) completes, credits are debited asynchronously. The dashboard total can appear unchanged for a short period while the deduction is still being written to your account ledger.
  • Reserved or allocated credits: Hyperdrive Credits are managed at the account level, but some credits may be allocated or reserved for existing projects or jobs. Credits reserved in this way are counted in your account total but may not be available for new work, which can cause a large visible discrepancy.

🛠️ Steps to Diagnose Your Discrepancy

  1. Hard-refresh your dashboard. Press Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac) to force a full page reload and clear any locally cached figures. Check whether the displayed balance updates.
  2. Wait a few minutes and reload again. If credits were consumed by a recently completed job, the ledger sync may take some time. A second reload after a short wait often resolves display-only discrepancies.
  3. Review your active projects and recent jobs. Check any projects, citation runs, or other jobs you have run recently. Credits consumed by recently completed jobs may not yet be reflected in the dashboard display but are already deducted from your live available balance.
  4. Check whether credits are reserved for existing work. If you have ongoing projects or campaigns, some credits may be allocated to them and unavailable for new tasks. Review your active work to account for any reserved credits.
  5. Confirm the discrepancy persists. If after refreshing and waiting the gap remains unexplained, note your displayed credit total, the available credits the AI reports, and any recent jobs you ran. This information will help the support team investigate quickly.

📋 What to Have Ready if You Need to Escalate

If the steps above do not resolve the discrepancy, please gather the following before contacting support:

  • Your account or project name
  • The credit total shown on your dashboard
  • The available credits reported by the AI
  • Any recent jobs or citation runs you completed
