☁️ Cloudflare Proxy Setup for Website Builder

☁️ Compatibility Overview

Search Atlas Website Builder works with Cloudflare's orange cloud proxy mode. The proxy accelerates content delivery, hides your origin IP, and provides DDoS protection. You can enable it once your domain points to the builder's nameservers or CNAME target.

🔧 Prerequisites

  • Active Search Atlas Website Builder site
  • Domain added in the builder's Domains section
  • Domain using Cloudflare DNS (either full or CNAME setup)
  • SSL certificate issued and active in the builder

📋 Step-by-Step Configuration

  1. Log in to Cloudflare and select your domain (e.g., zatrox.com).
  2. Open DNS → Records.
  3. Locate the record pointing to the Website Builder (A, AAAA, or CNAME).
  4. Click the cloud icon next to the record to turn it orange (Proxied).
  5. Wait 1-2 minutes for the change to propagate.
  6. In Cloudflare, go to SSL/TLS → Overview and set encryption mode to Full (strict).
  7. Enable Always Use HTTPS under Edge Certificates.
  8. Disable Automatic HTTPS Rewrites if you see mixed-content warnings.

⚙️ Recommended Cloudflare Settings

  • Caching Level: Standard
  • Browser Cache TTL: 4 hours
  • Auto Minify: Enable CSS, JS, HTML
  • Brotli: On
  • Early Hints: On
  • Rocket Loader: Off (can break builder scripts)
  • Mirage/Polish: Off unless you use Cloudflare Images

✅ Verification Checklist

  1. Visit https://zatrox.com and confirm the padlock shows a valid certificate.
  2. Open browser dev tools → Network tab → reload; verify cf-cache-status header returns HIT or DYNAMIC.
  3. Run curl -I https://zatrox.com and confirm server: cloudflare header is present.
  4. Check the Website Builder Domains page; status should read Connected.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • SSL errors: Ensure Cloudflare SSL mode is Full (strict) and the builder certificate is valid.
  • Redirect loops: Disable Always Use HTTPS temporarily, then re-enable after cache clears.
  • Broken assets/CSS: Turn off Rocket Loader and purge Cloudflare cache.
  • API/Webhook failures: Create a Page Rule for /api/* with Cache Level: Bypass and Disable Performance.

🔄 Cache Management

After publishing changes in Website Builder, purge Cloudflare cache: Caching → Configuration → Purge Everything or use Custom Purge for specific URLs.
