Overview
This article covers three related issues that can occur with Local Citations campaigns in Search Atlas: outdated business names appearing on directory listings, incorrect billing charges, and account repair steps needed after a refund is processed. Each section below explains what causes the issue, what to expect, and what you can do right now.
Why Your Old Business Name Still Appears on Listings
When you submit a Local Citations campaign, Search Atlas distributes your updated business information — including your business name — to directories such as Yellow Pages, Yelp, and dozens of other publishers. However, seeing the old name on live listings after submission is a known delay issue and does not mean the update failed.
Here is what causes the delay:
- Publisher review queues: Each directory independently reviews and approves submitted data. Some publishers take days; others can take several weeks.
- Cached data: Directories sometimes display cached versions of your listing while the new data is being processed in the background.
- Stuck submission phases: In rare cases, campaigns can get stuck in the Submitting or Live Checks phase. Our engineering team has resolved a platform-wide bug related to this, but individual campaigns may still require a manual push.
What you can do:
- Wait up to 4–6 weeks after your campaign goes live before expecting all directories to reflect the updated name.
- Check your campaign status inside Search Atlas. If the status has been showing Submitting or Live Checks for more than 2 weeks without progress, contact our team immediately.
- If a specific directory (such as Yellow Pages) continues to show the old name beyond 6 weeks, contact our support team so our team can manually verify the submission with that publisher.
Understanding and Resolving a Billing Overcharge
In rare cases, a technical billing error can result in a charge that is significantly higher than expected — sometimes by thousands of dollars. This is not intentional and our team treats these situations as urgent.
Common causes of billing overcharges include:
- A duplicate charge triggered during a plan change or citation campaign purchase.
- A system error that applied the wrong price tier to your account.
- An invoice that was generated before a promotional discount was applied correctly.
Steps to take if you believe you were overcharged:
- Locate the charge in question in your billing records. Note the amount charged and the approximate date of the transaction.
- Gather any confirmation emails or receipts you received at the time of purchase so our team can cross-reference them.
- Contact our support team with the details so we can investigate and process any applicable refund promptly.
