🔍 Overview
When you click Share URL inside the Report Builder, the generated link should use your agency's custom white-label domain — not dashboard.searchatlas.com. If you are seeing a Search Atlas domain in your shareable links, this article explains why it happens and how to resolve it.
⚙️ Why This Happens
There are two common reasons the wrong URL is generated:
- No custom domain is configured: If your white-label custom domain has not been set up or saved correctly in your account settings, the platform falls back to the default Search Atlas domain when generating share links.
- A previous platform bug: A known issue caused the Report Builder to resolve shareable and iframe URLs to dashboard.searchatlas.com even when a custom domain was correctly configured. This bug has been fixed in a recent platform update. If you were affected before the fix, you will need to regenerate your share links to get the correct URL.
✅ How to Fix It
- Go to Left sidebar → Reports (URL: /report-builder/projects-list).
- Verify that your white-label custom domain is active. If you are unsure, check your white-label settings in your account — your custom domain must be saved and verified before share links will use it.
- Open the report you want to share.
- Click Share URL to generate a fresh link.
- Confirm the generated URL now shows your agency's custom domain, not dashboard.searchatlas.com.
- Copy the new link and share it with your client. Any previously copied links using the old domain will need to be replaced with the newly generated ones.
🛠️ If the URL Still Shows the Wrong Domain
If you have regenerated the link and it still resolves to dashboard.searchatlas.com, work through the following checks:
- Confirm your custom domain is saved: Navigate to your white-label settings and ensure your agency domain is entered correctly and marked as active. An incomplete or unverified domain will cause the fallback URL to appear.
- Clear your browser cache: In rare cases, a cached version of the page can display stale link data. Clear your cache and reload the Report Builder before generating a new link.
- Try a different browser or incognito window: This rules out browser extensions or cached data interfering with the generated URL.
- Re-save your white-label domain settings: Open your white-label configuration, re-enter your custom domain, and save again. Then return to the Report Builder and generate a new share link.
📋 Key Points to Remember
- Any share links generated before the bug fix was deployed may still contain the old Search Atlas domain. These links will not automatically update — you must generate new ones.
- Iframe embed links are affected in the same way. If you use embedded reports on a client portal, regenerate those URLs as well.
- A correctly configured white-label custom domain is required for the share link to reflect your agency branding. The platform cannot generate a custom-domain URL if no domain has been set.
