If you need to stop tracking one website and start fresh with a different one, you can do this by removing your current site from Search Atlas and clearing the UUID (User ID) from the WordPress plugin. This guide walks you through every step so you can get your new site connected quickly and correctly.
⚠️ Before You Begin
Please review the following before making any changes:
- Data will not carry over. Rankings, keyword data, and site metrics associated with your current website will no longer be accessible once the site is removed.
- WordPress admin access is required. You will need to log in to the WordPress dashboard of the site where the Search Atlas plugin is installed.
- Plan limits apply. Adding a new website counts against your plan's site allowance. Verify you have an available slot before proceeding.
🛠️ Step 1: Remove the Current Website from Search Atlas
- Log in to your Search Atlas account.
- In the left sidebar, click Site Metrics (Site Explorer).
- Locate the website you want to remove from your site list.
- Click the settings or options icon next to the site name.
- Select Remove Site (or Delete Site) and confirm the action when prompted.
Once confirmed, the site will be removed from your Search Atlas account and will no longer appear in your Site Explorer dashboard.
🔌 Step 2: Remove the UUID from the WordPress Plugin
The UUID (Unique User ID) links your WordPress site to your Search Atlas account. You must clear this value before connecting a new site — otherwise the plugin will still attempt to sync with your old account data.
- Log in to the WordPress admin dashboard of the site where the Search Atlas plugin is installed.
- In the WordPress left menu, navigate to Search Atlas (or the plugin settings page).
- Open the plugin's Settings tab (general).
- Locate the OTTO Pixel UUID field.
- Clear (delete) the existing value from that field so it is completely blank.
- Click Save or Update Settings to apply the change.
The plugin is now disconnected and ready to be linked to a new Search Atlas site.
🚀 Step 3: Connect Your New Website
- Return to your Search Atlas account.
- In the left sidebar, click Site Metrics (Site Explorer).
- Click Add New Site and enter the URL of your new website.
- Once the site is added, go to the plugin's Settings page in Search Atlas and copy the new UUID generated for this site.
- Go back to your WordPress admin dashboard, open the Search Atlas plugin settings, paste the new UUID into the OTTO Pixel UUID field (Settings tab / general), and click Save.
Your new website is now connected. Allow a short period for data to begin populating in your Search Atlas dashboard.
✅ Verify the Connection
To confirm everything is working correctly:
- In Search Atlas, go to Left sidebar → Site Metrics (Site Explorer) and check that your new site appears in the list.
- In WordPress, open the Search Atlas plugin settings and confirm the UUID field shows the new value — not blank and not the old ID.
- Check that the plugin status shows as Connected or Active.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I undo removing a website? No. Once a site is removed from Search Atlas, its historical data cannot be restored. Make sure you want to proceed before confirming the deletion.
Do I need to uninstall the WordPress plugin? No. You only need to clear the UUID field. The plugin itself can remain installed on the site.
