The OTTO pixel is a small tracking script that allows Search Atlas to analyse your site and automate SEO improvements. Wix has a unique site structure that requires specific steps to install the pixel correctly. If your pixel is not firing, this guide explains the general approach and what to have ready when contacting support.

⚙️ Before You Begin

Make sure you have the following ready before starting:

  • Admin access to your Wix account and your Search Atlas account.
  • Your OTTO pixel code, found inside the Search Atlas platform in the OTTO or SEO settings area.
  • A published (live) Wix site — the pixel cannot be verified on an unpublished site.

📋 Step 1: Copy Your OTTO Pixel Code

  1. Log in to Search Atlas and locate the OTTO pixel code for your connected website. Refer to the in-platform instructions or tooltips for the exact location, as the navigation path may vary by account.
  2. Copy the full pixel code without modifying it.

🖥️ Step 2: Add the Pixel to Wix Using Custom Code

Wix does not allow direct file access, so you must use Wix's built-in custom code injection feature to add the pixel. The exact menu path may differ depending on your Wix plan and dashboard version — consult the Wix Help Center for the most current instructions on adding custom code to your site.

  1. Log in to your Wix account and open your site's Dashboard.
  2. Find the custom code or tracking tools section in your Wix settings.
  3. Add a new custom code snippet and paste your OTTO pixel code into the code box.
  4. Give the snippet a recognisable name, for example: OTTO SEO Pixel.
  5. Set the snippet to load on All Pages in the Head section.
  6. Save your changes.

🚀 Step 3: Publish Your Wix Site

Changes made in the Wix Dashboard do not go live automatically. You must publish your site after adding custom code, otherwise the pixel will not fire.

  1. Return to your Wix Editor or Dashboard.
  2. Click the Publish button to push your changes live.
  3. Wait for Wix to confirm the site is live before attempting to verify the pixel in Search Atlas.

  1. Return to Search Atlas and navigate to your OTTO or pixel settings for the connected website.

  • Pixel not detected after verification: Confirm you published your Wix site after saving the custom code. Verification checks the live version of your site, not the draft.
  • Code saved but pixel still not firing: Double-check that the snippet is set to load on All Pages and is placed in the Head section, then republish your site.
  • Unsure where to find the pixel code in Search Atlas: Contact our support team with your project name and the connected website URL so we can confirm the correct location for your account.
