Search Atlas offers two distinct license types that work together but are managed separately: OTTO licenses (for AI-powered SEO automation) and AI Visibility licenses (for AI Visibility analysis). Upgrading one does not automatically upgrade the other. If you recently added OTTO licenses and noticed your AI Visibility license count did not increase to match, this article explains why — and what to do next.
⚙️ How OTTO and AI Visibility Licenses Work
OTTO licenses and AI Visibility licenses are separate entitlements on your account, even though both fall under the Search Atlas platform. Each license type is provisioned independently:
- OTTO licenses control how many websites you can activate and manage through the OTTO SEO automation engine.
- AI Visibility licenses control how many projects or queries you can run through the AI Visibility feature.
Because these are tracked in separate systems, an upgrade to your OTTO license count does not trigger an automatic increase in AI Visibility licenses. The two must be aligned manually by the Search Atlas team when a plan change is made.
🚨 Common Scenario: Missing AI Visibility License After Upgrade
The most frequent issue customers report looks like this:
- You upgrade your plan and add one or more OTTO licenses.
- You expect your AI Visibility license count to increase by the same number.
- After the upgrade, the new AI Visibility license does not appear in your account.
This is a known alignment gap. The upgrade correctly provisions your additional OTTO license(s), but the corresponding AI Visibility license(s) must be separately activated on the back end. This is not a billing error — it is a provisioning step that requires manual intervention from our team.
🛠️ How to Check Your Current License Counts
Before reaching out, confirm what you currently have access to:
- Log in to your Search Atlas account and navigate to your OTTO license area to note how many active OTTO licenses are shown.
- Navigate to your AI Visibility feature area and check how many AI Visibility slots are available to you.
- Compare both numbers against what your upgraded plan should include.
If the OTTO count reflects your new plan but AI Visibility does not, this confirms the alignment discrepancy described above.

- The date your plan upgrade or license change was made
