⏱️ What Is a Timeout Error?

A timeout error occurs when the platform starts a process but does not receive a response within the expected time window. Instead of waiting indefinitely, the system stops the request and shows an error message. These errors are usually intermittent and often resolve on their own — but some cases require action on your part or from our team.

🔍 Common Scenarios Where Timeouts Appear

  • Page loading or redirect issues: After completing an action such as sign-up or project creation, you may be redirected to a blank page or see a loading error.
  • AI Agent requests stalling: If you submit a request and the platform does not respond or appears stuck, a background timeout may have interrupted the process.
  • Batch or long-running tasks: Operations that process large amounts of data may time out under high load.

🛠️ Steps to Resolve a Timeout Error

  1. Refresh the page. Many timeout errors are transient. A simple page refresh clears the stalled request and reloads the session.
  2. Clear your browser cache. Go to your browser settings, clear cached files and cookies for the Search Atlas domain, then reload the page.
  3. Try a different browser or incognito mode. This rules out browser extensions or stored data causing the issue.
  4. Wait 60 seconds and retry. If the platform is processing a large task, give it a moment before submitting the request again.
  5. Reattempt the original action. If you were interrupted during a workflow, log out and log back in, then retry. Your saved data should remain intact.
  6. Check for duplicate submissions. If you clicked a button multiple times before the error appeared, only resubmit once to avoid creating duplicate tasks or projects.

📋 Before You Contact Support — Gather These Details

When timeout issues cannot be resolved with the steps above, our support team will need specific information to investigate efficiently. Please have the following ready before starting a chat:

  • The exact page or feature where the timeout occurred (e.g., project creation, AI Agent, content editor)
  • The time and date the error happened (include your timezone)
  • A screenshot or screen recording of the error message if available
  • The steps you took immediately before the error appeared
  • Whether the issue is happening consistently or only sometimes
  • Your browser name and version (e.g., Chrome 124, Safari 17)

Providing these details upfront means our team can investigate without back-and-forth delays and resolve your issue faster.

💡 Why Describing the Problem Clearly Matters

Timeout errors can stem from many different causes — network conditions, platform load, browser state, or a specific feature behaving unexpectedly. The more precisely you can describe what you were doing and what you saw, the faster our team can identify the root cause and apply the right fix.

If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.
