📍 How to Add Keywords for Tracking
⏸️ Pause Rank Tracker Credit Usage
⏸️ Why pause Rank Tracker? Rank Tracker can use credits when it refreshes tracked keywords on a recurring schedule. If you do not want ongoing tracking or credit usage, pause scheduled refreshes for the project. 🛠️ How to pause recurring tracking 1. Open Keywords from the left sidebar. 2. Select Rank Tracker. 3. Open the project you want to pause. 4. Find the project’s refresh or tracking settings. 5. Disable the keyword refresh interval, or select Scan Once mode. 6. Save the change if prompted. Scan Once mode prevents recurring refreshes. You can run a new scan manually whenever you want updated ranking data. 📊 What happens after pausing? - Your existing tracked keywords and ranking history remain available. - The project stops scheduled keyword refreshes. - No new recurring refresh credits are used while refreshes are paused. - Ranking data may become outdated until you run another scan. 🔄 How to resume tracking Return to the same Rank Tracker project settings and select a refresh interval instead of Scan Once mode. Save your settings, then confirm the next scheduled refresh shown for the project. 💡 Important credit note Pausing prevents future recurring refreshes; it does not reverse credits already used by completed scans. If a scan is currently processing, allow it to finish before confirming that scheduled refreshes are paused. 💬 Need help? 📘 Keyword Rank Tracker
How to access: Keyword Rank Tracker is a standalone module in your Search Atlas dashboard. Access it directly from the main sidebar navigation. It is not located inside GSC Performance — GSC Performance is a separate module that surfaces data from your connected Google Search Console account. The Keyword Rank Tracker (KRT) tool in Search Atlas helps you monitor your website's visibility and keyword positions across multiple devices and locations — all from within your Search Atlas dashboard. It does not require any code or setup on your website. KRT actively tracks keyword rankings using its own rank-checking engine, independently scanning search results to show keyword fluctuations, trends, and position history. This is separate from the GSC Performance module, which surfaces data pulled directly from Google Search Console. The two data sources are distinct: KRT reflects Search Atlas's own crawl-based measurements, while GSC Performance reflects what Google reports in your Search Console account. 👣Step-by-Step Instructions 1️⃣ Setting Up Keyword Tracking All configuration is done inside your Search Atlas > GSC Performance > Keywords workspace. 1. Enter your Domain in the Keywords → Rank Tracker (Keyword Rank Tracker) input. 2. Select a Location → choose city, state, or country. You can also combine multiple geo-targets (location_ids) for a more representative aggregated search volume figure across regions — select additional locations in the location picker where this option is available in your UI. 3. Choose Tracking Frequency → select from the options available in your dashboard (typically daily, weekly, or monthly). Available frequencies may depend on your subscription plan, so confirm the exact options in your account. 4. Add your Target Keywords to begin monitoring. 💡 Tip: You can create multiple projects targeting the same location — for example, one per subdomain, product line, or campaign — to keep keyword sets organised for localized SEO visibility. Check your plan for the maximum number of projects allowed. ⚠️ Known issue: If the Google Business Profile (GBP/CID) location dropdown shows No Data during project setup, this may indicate a temporary search failure that is currently being silently swallowed. Refresh the page and try again, or contact support if the issue persists. 2️⃣ Reviewing Keyword Performance Once tracking is active, the KRT dashboard displays insights under GSC Performance > Keywords > Keyword Movements tabs. Metrics shown include: - Keyword → The tracked keyword. - Starting Position → Ranking when tracking started. - Previous Position → The keyword's ranking from the prior tracking period, enabling period-over-period comparison. - Current Position → Updated position from latest crawl. - Historical Chart → Position trend over time. - SERP Features → Highlights linked Google elements (e.g., snippets, map pack). - Search Volume (SV) → Average monthly searches (12-month avg). - CPC (Cost Per Click) → Average cost-per-click for the keyword, useful for prioritising commercial-intent terms. - Location → The region selected in the dashboard. - Last Update → Date of the most recent ranking refresh. 3️⃣ Mobile & Desktop Rank Tracking Manage this inside the KRT dashboard, not your website. New Keywords - Choose to track Desktop, Mobile, or both. Existing Keywords 1. Locate the keyword under Tracked Keywords. 2. Click Add Mobile Tracking. 3. Confirm and save your settings. 4️⃣ Competitor Tracking by Search Visibility Track competitor data directly within Search Atlas > Keywords > Competitor Visibility: Metric Description URL Competitor's website. Position Current competitor keyword rank. Keywords in Top 10 Count of keywords ranking top 10. Search Visibility Competitor's visibility score. 5️⃣ Importing Keywords from a CSV File 1. Use the provided template file: updated_keyword_data.csv. 2. Go to Keyword View within your project in Search Atlas. 3. Upload under Import CSV File. ⚙️ This step imports keyword lists into the dashboard, not your site CMS. 6️⃣ Exporting & Sharing Results 1. Export results to a .csv file for offline review. 2. Share Search Atlas dashboard links with teammates for collaborative analysis. 🔐 Shared links grant view-only access to KRT data — no risk to your website or integrations. 7️⃣ Keyword Quota & Usage You can monitor your current keyword quota and usage from within the KRT dashboard — check the keyword counter shown alongside your project list or in your account/billing area to see how many tracked keywords you are currently consuming against your plan limit. ⚠️ If your quota appears higher than expected, contact support — usage counters can occasionally fall out of sync and our team can run a recalculation. Do not delete and re-add keywords as a workaround, as this may not resolve the underlying count. 💡Example Setup - Location: Miami, FL - Frequency: Weekly - Device: Desktop + Mobile - Keywords: "SEO agency Miami," "local SEO service" - Output: CSV report every Friday at 10:00 AM ❓ FAQs ❓ How does the Keyword Rank Tracker help improve my SEO strategy? 💡 It monitors keyword positions, traffic, and visibility—enabling data-driven optimization decisions. ❓ What kind of data does the tool track? ⚡ It tracks starting position, previous position, current position, historical changes, SERP features, search volume, CPC, and visibility. ❓ Can I track rankings for specific locations? ✅ Yes, you can track rankings at the city, state, or country level, and combine multiple geo-targets for aggregated search volume insights. ❓ How often can I update rankings? 💡 The tool supports the tracking frequencies available on your plan (typically daily, weekly, or monthly). Confirm the exact options in your dashboard. ❓ What historical data is provided? ⚡ A chart that shows keyword position changes over time. ❓ How does the tool support competitive analysis? ✅ It tracks competitor positions, top 10 keyword counts, and visibility metrics. ❓ Can I see which URLs are ranking for my keywords? 💡 Yes, the tool displays the exact URLs ranking for your keywords. ❓ How can I track competitors' keyword performance? ⚡ By monitoring competitor rankings, top keywords, and visibility scores. Closing Note ✅ The Keyword Rank Tracker ensures you have full visibility into your SEO performance, from keyword fluctuations to competitor insights. Use it to refine your strategies, improve your rankings, and gain a competitive edge. For additional support, our team is here to help.
🔍 Recover Credits From Rank Tracking
📊 Understand Rank Tracker credits Rank Tracker uses credits when it checks tracked keywords and records ranking data. Usage can vary based on the number of keywords, search engines, locations, devices, and tracking frequency configured for a project. Credits already consumed cannot usually be restored automatically. However, unexpected usage may result from delayed usage counters, paused tracking activity, or a platform issue, so each case can be reviewed. 🔎 Check your tracked keywords and projects 1. Open Local in the left sidebar. 2. Select GBP Projects. 3. Choose View project for the relevant project (use Add next to the Keywords count to add keywords). 4. Review the tracked keyword count and project settings. 5. Check whether multiple projects track the same keywords or locations. Confirm that the current keyword count matches what you intended to track. Also check projects you recently paused or changed, as activity from before the change may still appear in usage totals. 🧮 Review credit usage carefully Usage counters may take time to reflect recent changes. In some cases, a cached counter can temporarily show more usage than the actual number of tracked keywords. Refresh the page and review the total again after changes have finished processing. If your account uses Universal Credits, read each value in the quota tooltip carefully. The values may represent different usage scopes, rather than separate amounts that should be added together. 🛠️ Reduce unnecessary usage - Remove keywords you no longer need to monitor. - Avoid tracking duplicate keywords across projects unless each project needs separate settings. - Pause projects that do not need regular updates. - Use an appropriate tracking frequency for your reporting needs. - Review locations, devices, and search engines to remove unused combinations. Pausing tracking stops future scheduled checks, but it does not automatically return credits already used. Allow time for the account and project status to update before checking usage again. 💬 Request a usage review If credits appear to have been consumed incorrectly, gather the project name, affected keywords, approximate date and time, and screenshots of the usage or quota message. Then open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team. Our team can review the account history and determine whether the usage reflects normal tracking activity or a platform issue. If an eligible billing or usage adjustment is identified, the team will explain the available resolution. ✅ Key takeaway Credits are not automatically recoverable after Rank Tracker usage, but unexpected consumption can be investigated. First verify tracked keywords and project settings, allow counters to refresh, and contact the team with specific usage details when the numbers still look incorrect.
📊 Track Keyword Rankings on Bing in Search Atlas
Overview Search Atlas includes native Bing ranking tracking directly inside the platform. You do not need any third-party tools to see how your keywords rank on Bing. The Rank Tracker (Keyword Rank Tracker) tool under Keywords lets you monitor keyword positions across multiple search engines, including Bing, all in one place. 📅 Sync Keyword Rank Tracker Project Run Schedules
🔍 Overview If you manage multiple Keyword Rank Tracker projects, you may notice that each project runs on a different day of the month — even when all are set to a monthly frequency. This article explains how to bring all your projects in sync so they run on the same date every month. 📋 Why Projects Run on Different Days When you create multiple Rank Tracker projects at different times, each project's recurring run date is based on the date it was first created or configured. Because projects are created on different days, their schedules naturally drift apart. Aligning them to a single shared date requires updating the run schedule for each project individually. 🛠️ How to Change a Project's Run Schedule 1. Open your Keyword Rank Tracker and select the project whose schedule you want to update. 2. Navigate to the project's Settings. 3. Locate the Schedule or Run Frequency section and update the run date to your preferred target date. 4. Save your changes. 5. Repeat these steps for every project you want to synchronize so they all share the same day each month. If you are unsure where to find the schedule setting for a specific project, or if the option does not appear available in your account, please reach out to our support team with your project name and a description of what you see — they can confirm the exact steps for your account configuration. 💡 Tips for Keeping Projects in Sync - Update new projects immediately. Whenever you create a new Rank Tracker project, adjust the schedule right away so it stays aligned with your existing projects. - Pick a consistent target date. Choose a run date that works for all your projects and apply it uniformly each time you add a new project. If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.
📅 Sync Keyword Rank Tracker Projects to One Date
🔍 Understanding the Problem If you have multiple Keyword Rank Tracker projects set to run on a recurring schedule, you may notice they run on different days of the month. This can happen because each project's schedule may be tied to when it was originally created or last configured, rather than a single shared calendar date. If your goal is to have all projects run on the same day each month, you can update the run schedule inside each project's settings individually. 🗺️ How to Navigate to Rank Tracker Before adjusting any settings, make sure you are in the right place: 1. Log in to your Search Atlas account. 2. In the left sidebar, navigate to Keywords → Rank Tracker (Keyword Rank Tracker). 3. Your list of Rank Tracker projects will appear on screen. ⚙️ How to Synchronize Project Run Dates Follow these steps for each Rank Tracker project you want to align to the same run date: 1. From your list of Rank Tracker projects, click on the project you want to update. 2. Open the project's Settings. 3. Locate the Run Frequency or Schedule section. 4. Set the interval to Monthly and choose the specific day of the month you want the project to run (for example, the 1st of each month). 5. Save your changes. 6. Repeat these steps for each remaining project, selecting the same day of the month each time. Once all projects have been updated to the same monthly run day, they will execute their tracking runs on the same calendar date going forward. 💡 Tips - Choose a run day that gives you enough time to review results before any monthly reporting deadlines. - If a project was recently created mid-month, its first run under the new schedule may occur sooner or later than expected — this will normalize from the following month onward. - Keep a note of the project names you have updated so you can confirm all projects are aligned after the next scheduled run. If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.
📊 Keyword Rank Report Showing Only Some Keywords
🔍 Overview If your keyword rank report is showing fewer keywords than expected, this is a known issue that our team is aware of. The cause has not been fully confirmed through a standard troubleshooting path, so the steps to resolve it may vary depending on your specific account setup. 🛠️ What You Can Try While a verified self-serve resolution is not yet documented for this issue, the following general checks are worth attempting before escalating: - Check for active filters: Look at the top of your rank report for any active filters — such as keyword groups, tags, or position ranges — and try removing them to see if more keywords appear. - Check pagination: Your report may be limited to a certain number of results per page. Look for any pagination controls or a setting to increase the number of displayed results. - Check your keyword grouping view: If your keywords are organised into groups, try switching to a view that shows all keywords rather than a specific group. - Check device views: Rankings may be separated by device type. Make sure you are reviewing all available views to account for your full tracked keyword set. If these general checks do not resolve the issue, this will need to be investigated by our support team. 📋 What to Have Ready When You Escalate To help our team investigate as quickly as possible, please have the following information ready: - The name of the project or domain affected. - The total number of keywords you expect to see versus how many are currently displayed. - Any filters or settings you have already tried adjusting. - The approximate date and time when you first noticed the discrepancy. - Any screenshots showing the incomplete keyword list. If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.

🔍 Why Rank Tracker Shows NR Despite Real Rankings
🧭 Overview If your Rank Tracker shows NR (Not Ranked) for a keyword but you can see your site ranking on Google manually, don't worry — your rankings are real. This discrepancy is almost always caused by a mismatch between how the tracker is configured and how Google is serving results to you personally. This article explains the most common causes and how to resolve them. ⚙️ Why This Happens Rank Tracker checks your keyword positions using specific, standardised settings: a fixed location, device type, and search engine. When those settings don't match the conditions of your manual search, the results will differ. Here are the most frequent causes: - Personalised search results: Google tailors results based on your browsing history, Google account activity, and location. A manual search while logged into Google will often show your site higher than it actually ranks for an anonymous user. - Device mismatch: If you searched on mobile but the tracker is set to desktop (or vice versa), rankings can differ significantly. Google maintains separate rankings for desktop and mobile. - Location mismatch: Rank Tracker checks rankings from a specific geographic location. If you searched from a different city, region, or country, Google may have returned a different set of localised results. - Local Pack vs. organic results: You may have seen your business appear in the Google Local Pack (the map results), while Rank Tracker measures standard organic positions only. These are two different result types. - Search engine variant: Ensure the tracker is set to the correct Google domain (e.g., google.com vs. google.co.uk) that matches your target market. 🛠️ How to Check and Fix Your Tracker Settings 1. Open Rank Tracker via the left sidebar → Keywords → Rank Tracker (Keyword Rank Tracker). 2. Select the project that contains the affected keyword. 3. Review the tracking configuration for location, device type (desktop or mobile), and search engine. 4. Compare these settings against the conditions of your manual search. For example, if you searched on a mobile device in Sarasota, FL, confirm the tracker is set to mobile and Sarasota, Florida, United States. 5. If the settings don't match, update them to reflect your intended target audience — the location and device your customers actually use to search. 6. After saving your changes, allow 24–48 hours for the tracker to re-crawl and update positions. Rankings are not rechecked in real time. 📋 How to Perform a Fair Manual Comparison To get a result that matches what Rank Tracker sees, follow these steps when searching manually: - Open a browser in private or incognito mode to avoid personalised results. - Make sure you are not logged into a Google account. - Search from the same location, device type, and Google domain that the tracker is configured to use. If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.
Exclude Local Pack Keywords From Rank Tracker Projects
Why Are Local Pack Keywords Appearing? When you create a Rank Tracker project and connect it to a Google Business Profile (GBP), Search Atlas automatically inherits the keyword set associated with that GBP. This includes: - Local pack keywords — terms that trigger the map-based local results block in Google Search - Mobile keywords — variants tracked specifically for mobile search engine results pages (SERPs) These keywords are pulled in automatically as part of the GBP connection and are intended to give you a complete local visibility picture. However, they count toward your rank tracking keyword quota, which can consume your allowance faster than expected if you only need standard organic rankings. Can I Remove These Keywords From an Existing Project? Unfortunately, no. Local pack and mobile keywords that are inherited through a GBP connection cannot be individually removed from an existing Rank Tracker project. The connection between the project and the GBP is set at the time of creation, and the inherited keywords are locked to that project configuration. The only way to stop tracking these keywords and reclaim your quota is to delete the existing project and recreate it without a GBP connection. How to Fix It: Delete and Recreate Without a GBP Connection The confirmed workaround is to delete the affected project and set up a new one while leaving the Google Business Profile field disconnected. Before deleting, make a note of the keywords you want to keep so you can re-add them to the new project. Step 1 — Record the keywords you want to keep 1. Navigate to Rank Tracker and open the affected project. 2. Review your keyword list and note down (or otherwise save) the keywords you want to continue tracking, excluding any local pack or mobile keywords you do not need. Step 2 — Delete the existing project 1. Inside the same Rank Tracker project, locate the project deletion option within the project's settings area. 2. Delete the project and confirm when prompted. 3. This will release all keywords from that project back to your available quota. Step 3 — Create a new project without a GBP connection 1. In Rank Tracker, start creating a new project. 2. Enter your domain and configure your target location, device, and search engine settings as needed. 3. When prompted to connect a Google Business Profile, skip or leave this field blank. Do not connect a GBP if you want to avoid inheriting local pack and mobile keywords. 4. Add back the keywords you recorded in Step 1. 5. Save and launch the new project. Your project will now track only the keywords you selected, without inheriting local pack or mobile keywords from a GBP connection. If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.
🌍 Track Subfolders and Multi-Market Keyword Rankings
🗺️ Overview If your website serves multiple languages or regions — for example, /es for Spanish, /fr for French, or separate tracking for the UK and US English markets — Search Atlas lets you configure this directly inside the Rank Tracker. This article explains what subfolder and multi-market tracking involves so you can work with our support team to get it configured correctly for your project. 🔍 What Are Subfolders and Why Track Them? Subfolders are URL path segments that separate different language or regional versions of your website under the same root domain. Common examples include: - /es — Spanish content - /fr — French content - /it — Italian content - /en-gb — British English content Tracking these separately ensures your keyword rankings reflect the correct version of your site for each target audience, rather than blending results across all regions into a single inaccurate view. ⚙️ Adding a Subfolder to an Existing Project Subfolder tracking is configured inside your Rank Tracker project settings. To get this set up correctly for your domain, reach out to our support team with the following information ready: - Your domain name and the name of the Rank Tracker project you want to update - The subfolder path(s) you want to track, for example /es, /fr, or /it (include the leading forward slash) - The target language or region associated with each subfolder A single domain can track multiple subfolders — such as /es, /fr, and /it — without needing separate projects, depending on how your project is configured. 🌐 Setting Up Multi-Market Tracking (e.g. UK and US) For tracking the same keyword set across different English-speaking markets — such as Google UK and Google US — each market typically requires its own project configuration with the appropriate target location and search engine. To get this set up, have the following ready when you contact support: - Your domain name - The markets you want to track (for example, United Kingdom and United States) - The keywords you want to monitor for each market - Whether you need separate projects per market or want to expand an existing project By maintaining separate configurations per market, you get clean, side-by-side ranking data for each region. If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.
📊 Find GSC Keyword Position History in Rank Tracker
🔍 Overview The GSC Keyword Position History screen lives under Site Metrics → GSC Performance (GSC keyword data page), on the Keyword Position History tab. If you have had trouble finding it after a recent navigation update, this article will walk you back to the right place in just a few steps. 🗺️ How to Navigate to GSC Keyword Position History 1. Log in to your Search Atlas account. 2. In the left sidebar, click Site Metrics. 3. From the expanded menu, click GSC Performance. This takes you to the GSC keyword data page. 4. On the GSC Performance page, click the Keyword Position History tab. This is the screen that shows the historical position data pulled directly from your connected Google Search Console account. 📈 What You Will See on This Screen Once you are on the GSC Keyword Position History screen, you can expect to find: - Keyword list: All keywords Search Atlas has detected from your GSC data. - Position history: A timeline of ranking positions for each keyword, showing how they have moved over time. - Filters and sorting: Options to narrow results by date range, keyword, or position change. - Performance trends: Visual indicators to help you quickly spot keywords that are climbing or dropping. ✅ Prerequisites — Make Sure GSC Is Connected The position history data is only available if your Google Search Console account is properly linked to Search Atlas. If you see no data or an empty state on this screen, check the following: - Your GSC property has been connected under Site Metrics → Site Explorer → Manage Sites/Connect GSC Account (GSC connected sites list). - The correct website property is selected in Rank Tracker. - Enough time has passed for data to sync — GSC data can take up to 48 hours to appear after a new connection. 💡 Tips for Getting the Most from Position History - Use the date range filter to compare ranking performance across specific time periods, such as before and after a site update or campaign launch. - Sort by position change to quickly identify your biggest movers — both gains and drops. - Cross-reference keywords you find here with the Keyword Magic tool (Left sidebar → Keywords → Keyword Magic) to find new content opportunities around your top-performing terms. 🆘 Need More Help? 🌍 Multi-Language Subfolder and Multi-Country Rank Tracking
Overview If your site uses language subfolders (e.g., tableo.com/es/, tableo.com/it/, tableo.com/fr/) and you also want to track keyword rankings separately for markets like the UK and US, Search Atlas supports both workflows through the Rank Tracker and Keyword Research tools. This article walks through the exact steps for each setup. Part 1: Track Keywords for Language Subfolders Each language subfolder targets a different audience and often ranks for different keywords. The recommended approach is to set up a separate Rank Tracker project for each subfolder: 1. Navigate to Rank Tracker in your Search Atlas dashboard. 2. Create a new Rank Tracker project. 3. Enter the full subfolder URL as the project domain — for example, tableo.com/es/ for your Spanish subfolder. 4. Set the Location to the country that subfolder targets (e.g., Spain for /es/). 5. Set the Language to match the subfolder's language (e.g., Spanish for /es/). 6. Add the keywords you want to track and save the project. 7. Repeat this process for each additional subfolder (e.g., tableo.com/it/ with Italy and Italian, tableo.com/fr/ with France and French). Creating a separate project per subfolder keeps your ranking data clean and makes it easy to compare performance across language markets side by side. Part 2: Track the Same Keywords Across UK and US Markets English-speaking markets like the UK and US often return different search results for the same keyword. To get accurate data for each region, create two separate Rank Tracker projects for the same domain: 1. Navigate to Rank Tracker in your Search Atlas dashboard. 2. Create a new project and enter your domain (e.g., tableo.com). 3. Set Location to United States and Language to English. 4. Add your keywords and save the project. 5. Create another new project, and enter the same domain. 6. This time set Location to United Kingdom and Language to English. 7. Add the same set of keywords and save the project. Running both projects in parallel gives you accurate, market-specific ranking data for each region. Part 3: Research Keywords by Language and Location Before adding keywords to your tracking projects, use the Keyword Research tool to find the best terms for each market and language: 1. Navigate to Keyword Research in your Search Atlas dashboard. 2. Enter a seed keyword related to your business. 3. Set the Location and Language to match your target market (e.g., Spain and Spanish for your /es/ subfolder). 4. Review the suggested keywords, search volumes, and difficulty metrics. 5. Select the most relevant keywords and add them to your corresponding Rank Tracker project. 6. Repeat the research process for each language and market you are targeting. This ensures you are tracking keywords that actually matter for each audience, rather than assuming the same terms will perform across all regions. 📊 Keyword Rank Tracker Position Limits Explained
🔍 Overview If you are on the Starter plan and notice that keyword rankings beyond a certain position are not displayed in the Rank Tracker, this is expected behaviour — not a bug. This article explains why the limit exists, what it means for your data, and how to access deeper ranking data if you need it. 📍 Where to Find the Rank Tracker You can access the Rank Tracker from the main navigation within your Search Atlas account. This is where all tracked keyword positions for your connected domains are displayed. ⚙️ Why Some Rankings Are Not Shown The Starter plan includes a position tracking limit. This means: - Keywords ranking within the tracked position range are fully displayed. - Keywords ranking below that threshold are detected but their exact position is not shown in the Rank Tracker interface. - This is a plan-level feature restriction, not a technical error or data gap. This limit exists because tracking deeper ranking positions requires significantly more data processing resources, which is allocated to higher-tier plans. ❓ Is This a Bug That Will Be Fixed? No. The position cap on the Starter plan is a deliberate product limitation, not a defect. There is no upcoming fix because the behaviour is working as designed for this plan tier. 🚀 How to Access Rankings Beyond the Limit If tracking keywords ranked beyond the Starter plan position limit is important to your SEO workflow, you have the following options: 1. Upgrade your plan — Higher-tier plans remove the position cap and allow you to track rankings across all positions. Visit your account settings or billing page to compare plans and upgrade. 2. Prioritise your tracked keywords — On the Starter plan, focus your Rank Tracker on keywords most likely to appear within the tracked range. Research and identify high-potential keywords before adding them to tracking. 💡 Tips for Getting the Most From the Starter Plan - Track your most strategically important keywords — ones you are actively optimising or that drive the most traffic potential. - Regularly review your tracked keyword list and remove keywords that are unlikely to break into the trackable range in the near term, freeing up your tracking slots for higher-priority targets. If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team. Additional Notes Contact our support team. If you are unsure which plan is right for your needs or want to confirm exactly which position range your current plan covers, our team can help. Open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner and type 'human teammate' to be connected with a team member.
How to Use the Rank Tracker Watchlist
The Rank Tracker Watchlist lets you mark high-priority keywords with a star so you can filter and monitor them separately from your full keyword set. This is useful for tracking competitors, seasonal campaigns, or any keywords that need close attention. ⭐ What Is the Watchlist? The Watchlist is a built-in Rank Tracker feature that lets you flag specific tracked keywords for quick access. Starred keywords display a filled gold star and can be isolated at any time using the Watchlisted filter. The Watchlist is available to all Search Atlas users on all plan types — no special access is required. The Watchlist does not have a dedicated page of its own — your starred keywords are always accessed by applying the Watchlisted filter within your Rank Tracker project (see How to Filter by Watchlisted Keywords below). 📌 How to Add a Keyword to Your Watchlist 1. Open Rank Tracker (Left sidebar → Keywords → Rank Tracker (Keyword Rank Tracker)) and select a project that contains tracked keywords. 2. In the keywords table, locate the keyword you want to watch. 3. Click the star icon on that keyword's row. The star turns gold to confirm the keyword has been added to your Watchlist. 🔍 How to Filter by Watchlisted Keywords 1. Open the filter panel within your Rank Tracker project. 2. Select the Watchlisted filter option. 3. Choose Yes from the filter values. 4. Click Apply Filter. The keywords table will refresh to display only your starred keywords. To return to your full keyword list, clear the Watchlisted filter or reset all active filters. 🗑️ How to Remove a Keyword from Your Watchlist There are two ways to remove a keyword from your Watchlist: - Single keyword: Click the gold star on the keyword's row again. The star returns to its default state, confirming the keyword has been removed. - Multiple keywords: Select the keywords you want to remove using the row checkboxes, then click the Remove from Watchlist button in the action bar. 📋 Supported Tabs The Watchlist star icon and Watchlisted filter are available across all four keyword tracking tabs in your project: - Organic Desktop - Organic Mobile - Local Pack - Local Search 💬 Need More Help? 🌍 Multi-Country Keyword Tracking and Quota Management
📋 Overview In Search Atlas, keyword tracking is managed through the Rank Tracker. Every keyword you track is counted against your account's keyword quota — but there is a critical detail that surprises many users: tracking the same keyword in multiple countries counts as a separate quota unit for each country. This article explains how quota works, why it depletes faster than you expect, and how to avoid running out. 🌐 How Multi-Country Tracking Consumes Quota When you add a keyword to the Rank Tracker, you must select a target country. Each unique combination of keyword + country is treated as one tracked keyword and deducted from your quota. Here is a practical example: - You want to track 20 keywords across 5 countries (e.g., UK, US, Canada, Australia, Germany). - That is 20 keywords × 5 countries = 100 quota units consumed, not 20. - If your quota was nearly full, adding those 100 units could exceed your limit — even though you are only adding 20 keyword terms. This is the most common reason customers believe they are adding only a small number of keywords but instantly exhaust their quota. ⚙️ How Keyword Quota Is Calculated Your keyword quota is an account-level limit — it is shared across all projects, all clients, and all countries tracked in your Rank Tracker. There is no separate quota pool per country or per project. Each quota unit is consumed when: - A keyword is added to the Rank Tracker for a specific country. - A keyword is duplicated across multiple countries for the same project. - A keyword is added for a new client project in an additional country. Quota is not consumed by simply searching for or viewing keyword data outside of the Rank Tracker. Only actively tracked keywords in the Rank Tracker count against your limit. 🔍 Why Your Quota Looks Wrong: Worked Examples Scenario 1: Your quota is maxed out and you cannot add more keywords Your account has reached its maximum limit. Even adding a single keyword in one country is not possible until you free up space. To resolve this, open the Rank Tracker, review your tracked keywords, and remove keywords that are no longer needed — especially any that are tracked across multiple countries you are not actively using. Removing one keyword tracked in five countries frees five quota units. Scenario 2: You have remaining quota but cannot add a batch of keywords This almost always means the batch of keywords is being added across multiple countries. For example, 50 keyword terms tracked across 5 countries equals 250 quota units — not 50. Check how many countries are selected when adding keywords in bulk, and reduce the number of countries if you are close to your limit. ✅ Best Practices for Managing Keyword Quota - Audit regularly: Periodically review all tracked keywords in the Rank Tracker and remove any that are no longer providing value. - Prioritize countries: Only track keywords in the countries that are directly relevant to your active campaigns. - Plan before adding in bulk: Before adding a large keyword list, multiply the number of keyword terms by the number of countries selected to estimate the quota impact. - Remove before adding: If you are near your quota limit, remove unused keyword-country combinations before adding new ones. 📊 Rank Tracker — Understanding and Resolving SERP Refresh Quota Exhaustion
When the Rank Tracker tells you your SERP refresh quota is exhausted, your account has used all available SERP refreshes for the current billing cycle. Your data is safe — you just need to wait for your quota to reset or expand your plan to keep refreshing. 🔍 What SERP Refresh Quota Exhaustion Means Every Search Atlas plan includes a monthly allowance of SERP refreshes for the Rank Tracker. Each time you click the SERP refresh button on a Rank Tracker project, one refresh is deducted from your quota. When the quota reaches zero, the Rank Tracker stops triggering new refreshes until more quota becomes available. This affects you if you've used your full monthly SERP refresh allowance and then tried to refresh a Rank Tracker project. No ranking data is lost or corrupted. All previously collected data in your Rank Tracker projects remains in place — quota exhaustion only blocks new refreshes, not stored history. 🛠️ How to Restore SERP Refresh Access in the Rank Tracker Follow these steps to confirm the cause and restore SERP refresh access: 1. Check your quota usage. Go to the top-right corner (avatar) → Billing → Activity Log and review your current SERP refresh usage, your plan limit, and your next reset date. 2. Choose an option to restore access: - Upgrade your subscription plan. Go to the top-right corner (avatar) → Billing → Plans & Top-ups tab and select a higher-tier plan. The new quota becomes available as soon as the upgrade is processed, and you can resume refreshing in the Rank Tracker right away. - Wait for your billing cycle to reset. Your quota resets automatically at the start of your next billing cycle. Check the exact reset date in the top-right corner (avatar) → Billing → Activity Log. No action is needed — SERP refreshes resume on their own once the cycle rolls over. - Purchase a SERP refresh add-on. Go to the top-right corner (avatar) → Billing → Plans & Top-ups (Add-on button) to buy additional refreshes mid-cycle without changing your plan. The add-on quota is added to your current allowance immediately and stays available until used or until your next reset, whichever comes first. If you don't see an add-on option, contact support to confirm availability for your plan. Once quota is available again — through an upgrade, an add-on, or a billing cycle reset — SERP refreshes in the Rank Tracker will work normally. 📅 When Your SERP Refresh Quota Resets Your SERP refresh quota resets automatically at the start of each billing cycle. The reset is tied to your subscription renewal date, not the calendar month. - Find your reset date: Go to the top-right corner (avatar) → Billing → Activity Log to see the exact date your quota refreshes. - No manual action needed: The reset happens automatically — you do not need to click anything or contact support. - Unused quota does not roll over: Each cycle starts with your full plan allowance regardless of how much you used the prior month. Once your billing cycle rolls over, your full monthly allowance is restored automatically and SERP refreshes in the Rank Tracker resume without any action on your part. 📞 When to Contact Search Atlas Support Reach out to the Search Atlas support team if any of the following apply: - You see a quota-exhaustion message in the Rank Tracker but your Account Settings show that quota is still available. - SERP refreshes continue to fail after your plan is upgraded, an add-on is purchased, or your billing cycle resets. - You need help interpreting your quota usage, locating your reset date, or evaluating which plan or add-on meets your refresh needs. - You don't see a SERP refresh add-on option in your billing settings and want to confirm whether one is available for your plan. Contact support using the chat widget inside your Search Atlas dashboard, or reach out to your account manager directly. When you write in, mention that you've already checked your quota in Account Settings — this helps the team triage your case faster. 🎯 Now that you know how SERP refresh quota controls when the Rank Tracker can pull new ranking data, head to the top-right corner (avatar) → Billing → Activity Log to review your current usage, check your reset date, and decide whether to upgrade your plan, purchase an add-on, or wait for the next billing cycle.
📊 Keyword Rank Tracker Position Limits on Starter Plan
📌 What This Article Covers If you cannot see all keyword rankings in the Rank Tracker on the Starter plan, this article explains why. This is intentional product behaviour, not a bug. 🔍 Why Some Rankings Are Not Shown on the Starter Plan The Rank Tracker displays keyword positions only up to a defined limit on the Starter plan. This means: - Keywords ranking beyond that threshold will not appear in your tracked results. - This limit applies across all projects on a Starter plan account. - The limitation is part of the plan's designed feature scope, not a technical error or temporary restriction. Deeper SERP tracking requires significantly more data processing and is reserved for higher-tier plans that are built to support larger-scale rank monitoring workflows. ✅ Your Options to Access Full Ranking Visibility If tracking keywords beyond the Starter plan's position limit is important to your SEO strategy, here is what you can do: 1. Upgrade your plan. Higher-tier plans unlock rank tracking beyond the Starter plan's position limit, giving you visibility into a broader range of SERP positions for all tracked keywords. You can review available plans from the top-right avatar → Billing (Plans & Top-ups) in your account. 2. Prioritise your tracked keywords. If upgrading is not the right fit right now, focus your Starter plan tracking on the keywords most likely to rank within the visible range, where data is fully available to you. 3. Contact our support team. If you are unsure which plan is right for your needs or want to confirm exactly which position range your current plan covers, our team can help clarify your options. 📊 Enable and Check Bing Rankings in Search Atlas
🔍 Overview Search Atlas supports tracking keyword rankings on Bing in addition to Google. By default, projects may be set to track Google results. This article walks you through exactly how to enable Bing tracking and view your Bing rankings inside the Rank Tracker tool. 🗂️ Step 1 — Open Rank Tracker In the left sidebar, click Keywords, then select Rank Tracker from the expanded menu. The full navigation path is: Left sidebar → Keywords → Rank Tracker. This opens your list of tracked projects and their associated keyword rankings. ⚙️ Step 2 — Select Your Project On the Rank Tracker page, locate the project you want to configure for Bing tracking. Click on the project name to open its settings and ranking dashboard. If you have not yet created a project, click Add Project and complete the setup flow before continuing. 🌐 Step 3 — Enable Bing as a Search Engine Once inside your project, look for the Search Engine filter or settings option. Depending on your view, this may appear as: - A dropdown menu labelled Search Engine near the top of the rankings table - A settings panel accessible via a gear or configuration icon within the project Click the Search Engine dropdown and select Bing from the list of available search engines. If you are in the project creation or editing flow, toggle or check the Bing option alongside any other search engines you want to track. 💾 Step 4 — Save Your Settings After selecting Bing, click Save or Apply to confirm your changes. Search Atlas will begin collecting Bing ranking data for the keywords associated with that project. Initial data population may take up to 24 hours depending on the number of keywords being tracked. 📈 Step 5 — View Your Bing Rankings Once Bing tracking is active and data has been collected, return to Left sidebar → Keywords → Rank Tracker and open your project. Use the Search Engine filter at the top of the rankings table to switch between Google and Bing views. Select Bing to display keyword positions specifically from Bing search results. You will see: - Current Bing ranking position for each keyword - Position changes over your selected date range - Search volume data associated with each tracked keyword ✅ Tips for Accurate Bing Tracking - Target location matters: Make sure your project's target location is set correctly, as Bing rankings can vary significantly by region. - Device type: Check whether your tracking is set to desktop or mobile, as Bing rankings may differ between devices. - Keyword list: Bing tracks the same keyword list as your Google settings within the same project. Add any additional keywords before enabling tracking to capture a full picture from day one. - Data refresh: Rank Tracker updates rankings on a scheduled basis. If you do not see fresh Bing data immediately, allow up to 24 hours for the first results to appear. ❓ Frequently Asked Questions Can I track both Google and Bing at the same time? Yes. Search Atlas allows you to enable multiple search engines within the same project. Use the Search Engine filter to toggle between views without losing any data. Will enabling Bing affect my existing Google rankings data? No. Enabling Bing tracking is additive. Your existing Google ranking history remains intact and is not modified when you add Bing. Why does my Bing ranking show as 'N/A' or empty? This usually means tracking was just enabled and data collection is still in progress. Wait 24 hours and refresh the page. If the issue persists after 48 hours, contact support using the method below. 💬 Need More Help? 🏆 Track Competitor Keyword Rankings in Rank Tracker
Overview Search Atlas Rank Tracker lets you monitor how your tracked keywords perform over time — and compare your rankings directly against competitors. This article explains how to add competitors to your Rank Tracker project and where to find competitor ranking data in your reports. How to Access Rank Tracker 1. Log in to Search Atlas. 2. In the left sidebar, go to Keywords → Rank Tracker (Keyword Rank Tracker). 3. Select the project you want to work with from your list of tracked keyword projects. How to Add Competitors to a Rank Tracker Project You can add competitor domains to any existing Rank Tracker project so their rankings appear alongside yours for the same set of keywords. 1. Open the Rank Tracker project you want to update by clicking its name. 2. Locate the competitor management option within the project settings or project view, and select it to add a new competitor domain. 3. Enter the competitor's root domain (for example, example.com) when prompted. 4. Save your changes. Search Atlas will begin pulling ranking data for that domain against your tracked keywords. Note: Competitor ranking data is refreshed on the same schedule as your own keyword rankings. Allow some time for data to populate after adding a new competitor. Where to View Competitor Rankings Once competitors are added, you can view their data in two places: - Rank Tracker Project View: Your tracked keywords table will include additional columns for each competitor domain, showing their current ranking position next to yours. - Reports: When generating or exporting a Rank Tracker report, competitor ranking columns are included automatically for any domains you have added to the project. Look for the competitor columns in the exported data or the on-screen report view. Tips for Getting the Most Out of Competitor Tracking - Add up to your plan limit: The number of competitor domains you can track per project depends on your current Search Atlas plan. Check your account settings for your limit. - Use Keyword Gap for deeper analysis: For a broader view of keyword opportunities your competitors rank for that you do not, look for the Keyword Gap tool within the platform. This tool compares entire keyword profiles, not just your tracked list. - Filter by competitor: Inside the Rank Tracker project view, use the available filter options to isolate a specific competitor's rankings and spot trends quickly. - Track branded and non-branded terms: Adding competitors is most valuable when your tracked keyword list includes both branded and non-branded keywords, giving you a fuller picture of competitive positioning. 📊 Understanding Search Rankings and Improving Keyword Positions
🔢 What Do Position Numbers Mean? When you track keywords in Search Atlas, each keyword is assigned a position number that reflects where your page appears in Google's search results for that term. - Position 1 is the top organic result — the best possible ranking. - Positions 2–10 appear on the first page and receive the majority of clicks. - Positions 11–20 typically fall on page two, where visibility drops significantly. - Positions 21 and higher receive very little organic traffic and are considered low-ranking. The lower the number, the better your visibility. A keyword moving from position 15 to position 6 is a meaningful improvement, even though the number decreased. 📉 Why Do Some Keywords Rank Poorly? Several factors influence where Google places your pages. Understanding these helps you prioritise your optimisation efforts. - Search intent mismatch: If your content does not match what users expect to find (informational, navigational, or transactional), Google will rank it lower. - Weak on-page optimisation: Missing or poorly written title tags, meta descriptions, headings, and body copy reduce relevance signals. - Insufficient backlinks: Pages with few authoritative external links often struggle to outrank stronger competitors. - Technical SEO issues: Slow page speed, broken links, crawl errors, or missing structured data can suppress rankings. - Thin or outdated content: Pages that lack depth or have not been updated recently may lose ground to fresher, more comprehensive content. - Schema markup gaps: Missing structured data (FAQ, HowTo, Article) can prevent rich results and reduce click-through rates. 🔍 Step 1 — Identify Your Low-Ranking Keywords 1. Go to Left sidebar → Keywords → Rank Tracker. 2. Select your project and review the keyword list. 3. Sort by Position to surface keywords ranked below position 10. 4. Note any keywords that have high search volume but low rankings — these represent your biggest opportunities. 🛠️ Step 2 — Audit the Pages Behind Low-Ranking Keywords 1. Navigate to Left sidebar → Site Metrics (Site Explorer) and open your site in the Site Explorer. 2. Locate the URL that is targeting each low-ranking keyword. 3. Review the page for on-page SEO completeness: title tag, H1, meta description, keyword usage in headings and body, internal links, and page speed. 4. Check whether the content genuinely matches the search intent for that keyword. Ask yourself: would someone searching this term be satisfied by what is on the page? 5. Identify content gaps — topics or subtopics that competitors cover but your page does not. 🏆 Step 3 — Analyse Competitors for Ranking Gaps 1. Go to Left sidebar → Keywords → Keyword Gap. 2. Enter your domain alongside one or two competing domains that rank well for the same keywords. 3. Review keywords where competitors outrank you. Pay attention to the pages they use for those keywords and how their content is structured. 4. Use these insights to strengthen your own pages with additional depth, updated statistics, better formatting, or improved internal linking. ✏️ Step 4 — Optimise Your Content Once you have identified gaps, apply the following improvements to each underperforming page: - Rewrite the title tag and meta description to include the primary keyword naturally and match the page's intent. - Improve heading structure by using H2 and H3 tags that reflect the questions users are searching for. - Expand thin content with relevant subtopics, examples, FAQs, or data that competitors are already covering. - Add or update schema markup for Article, FAQ, or HowTo where applicable to improve rich result eligibility. - Build internal links from high-authority pages on your site to the pages you are trying to rank. - Improve page speed by compressing images, removing unused scripts, and enabling caching. 📈 Step 5 — Discover New Keyword Opportunities 1. Go to Left sidebar → Keywords → Keyword Magic. 2. Enter a seed keyword related to your topic. 3. Filter by search volume and keyword difficulty to find terms where you have a realistic chance of ranking on page one. 4. Map each new keyword to an existing page or create new content to target it. ⏱️ How Long Does Improvement Take? Ranking improvements are not instant. After making on-page changes, Google typically takes two to eight weeks to recrawl and reindex the updated page. More competitive keywords can take longer. Monitor your progress regularly in Rank Tracker and continue refining your content based on what the data shows. 💡 Quick Reference — Ranking Improvement Checklist - Confirm search intent matches page content - Optimise title tag, meta description, and H1 - Expand content to cover subtopics competitors address - Add schema markup where relevant - Build internal links to the target page - Resolve technical issues (speed, crawl errors, mobile usability) - Acquire quality backlinks from authoritative sources - Track progress weekly in Rank Tracker If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.
📍 Keyword Rank Tracker: Local & ZIP Code Tracking
🔍 What This Article Covers If you are considering switching from Bright Local or another local SEO platform, or have questions about what Search Atlas offers for local rank tracking, this article explains the Keyword Rank Tracker and Local SEO Heatmaps features at a general level. Because feature capabilities and UI details vary, we recommend contacting our team directly to confirm exactly how local and ZIP code tracking works for your specific use case. 📊 Keyword Rank Tracker: Organic Rankings by Location The Keyword Rank Tracker in Search Atlas is the primary feature for monitoring organic keyword rankings in Google search results. It supports location-level targeting, making it relevant for customers coming from tools like Bright Local who need location-based organic ranking reports. General capabilities of the Keyword Rank Tracker include: - Track organic keyword positions for any domain or URL - Set tracking location to target specific geographic areas - Monitor ranking changes over time with historical trend data - View keyword position, search volume, and estimated traffic in one report - Export ranking reports for client delivery or internal analysis For confirmed details about ZIP code-level filtering, navigation steps, and any Bright Local feature parity specifics, please reach out to our support team — they can walk you through exactly what is available in your plan. 🗺️ Local SEO Heatmaps: A Separate Feature The Local SEO Heatmaps tool is a distinct feature from the Keyword Rank Tracker. It is important not to confuse the two. Local SEO Heatmaps provide a visual grid-based view of how a business appears in Google Maps and Local Pack results across a geographic area, which is useful for understanding local pack visibility. This is separate from organic (blue link) keyword rank tracking. If you are unsure which feature best matches what you were using in Bright Local, our support team can help you identify the right tool for your workflow. 🚀 Getting Started To explore the Keyword Rank Tracker or Local SEO Heatmaps, log in to Search Atlas and navigate to the relevant section in the left sidebar. If you need help setting up tracking for a specific location or want to confirm whether a particular capability (such as ZIP code targeting) is available on your plan, our team is ready to assist. If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.
📊 Rank Tracker Not Pulling Data After 24 Hours
🔍 Overview Rank Tracker typically refreshes keyword position data within 24 hours of setup. If your project has gone beyond that window with no data appearing, the root cause is often something that requires investigation on the backend side. This article explains what to check on your end and, importantly, what information to have ready so our team can resolve it quickly. ✅ Step 1: Confirm Your Basic Project Setup Before escalating, do a quick check to make sure your project is configured correctly. - Navigate to Keywords → Rank Tracker (Keyword Rank Tracker) from the left sidebar and locate the affected project. - Confirm that at least one keyword is actively listed under the project. - Verify that a target domain and search location are set for the project. - Make sure the domain is entered without unnecessary subpaths (e.g., use ignitedispensary.com rather than ignitedispensary.com/home). If the project appears correctly configured but still shows no data after 24 hours, the issue is likely backend in nature and will require our team to investigate. ⚠️ When to Escalate If data has not populated after 24 hours despite a correctly configured project, this is a backend issue that our support or engineering team must resolve. Customer-side troubleshooting steps alone will not fix it. When you reach out, please have the following ready so we can act immediately: - Project name: The exact name of the Rank Tracker project affected. - Target domain: The domain entered in the project (e.g., ignitedispensary.com). - Keywords affected: A few example keywords that are showing no data. - Search engine and country/location: The settings selected for the project. - Timestamp: When the project was created or last modified, and how long it has been without data. Having this information ready allows our team to locate your project and begin the backend investigation without delay. 🛠️ What Happens Next Once our team receives your report, we will investigate the data pipeline for your project and take the necessary backend action to restore keyword data collection. You do not need to delete or recreate your project unless specifically instructed to do so. If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.
📦 Exporting Large Keyword Datasets with SERP Filtering
📋 Overview Search Atlas allows you to build, filter, and export large keyword datasets — including lists exceeding one million keywords — directly from the Keyword Magic tool. This article walks you through the full process: creating your list, applying SERP feature filters such as Jobs, separating desktop and mobile data, and understanding the cost structure for bulk exports. 🗂️ Step 1: Access Keyword Magic Navigate to Left sidebar → Keywords → Keyword Magic. This is where you build and manage large keyword datasets before exporting. 🔍 Step 2: Build Your Keyword Dataset 1. Enter your seed keyword or upload a keyword list using the bulk import option. 2. Use the filters panel to narrow your dataset by search volume, keyword difficulty, intent, or any other available dimension. 3. To isolate desktop keywords, set the device filter to Desktop. Repeat the process separately and set the device filter to Mobile to capture your mobile subset. 4. Review the total keyword count shown at the top of the results table before proceeding. For a dataset of this scale, confirm you see approximately 1.2M keywords for desktop and 580K keywords for mobile before applying SERP feature filters. 📌 Step 3: Apply the Jobs SERP Feature Filter 1. In the filters panel, locate the SERP Features section. 2. Select Jobs from the list of available SERP feature types. 3. Choose whether you want keywords where the Jobs feature is present in the SERP or is not present, depending on your use case. 4. Apply the filter and allow the table to refresh. The keyword count will update to reflect only keywords that trigger the Jobs SERP feature. 5. Repeat this filter step independently for your desktop and mobile device segments so each export file is clean and correctly segmented. 💾 Step 4: Export Your Dataset Once your filters are applied and the dataset is confirmed, follow these steps to export: 1. Click the Export button located in the top-right area of the results table. 2. Select your preferred file format — CSV is recommended for datasets of this size due to compatibility with most data tools. 3. For datasets above 100,000 keywords, the export is processed as a bulk export job. You will receive a notification or download link once the file is ready — this may take several minutes depending on dataset size. 4. Export your desktop dataset first, then repeat the full workflow (device filter + SERP feature filter) to export your mobile dataset as a separate file. ⚙️ Bulk Export Options and API Access For datasets in the 500K–1M+ range, Search Atlas offers two primary export methods: - In-platform bulk export: Processed asynchronously in the background. You will be notified when the file is ready to download. This is the standard method for most large exports. - API export: Available on every plan, the Search Atlas API allows you to programmatically query and export keyword datasets at scale. This is recommended if you need to automate recurring large exports or integrate data directly into your own systems. Create your key in Settings → API Keys → Generate new key. 💰 Pricing for Bulk Exports Export costs depend on your active subscription plan and the volume of keyword rows exported. The general structure is as follows: - Included export credits: Each plan includes a monthly allocation of exportable keyword rows. Check your plan details under your account settings to see your current limit. - Overage exports: Exports that exceed your plan's included row limit are charged at a per-row rate or deducted from a credits balance, depending on your plan tier. - Enterprise and custom plans: If you regularly need to export datasets of 1M+ keywords, an Enterprise plan provides higher or unlimited export limits along with dedicated support. Reach out via the chat widget for a custom quote. Important: A combined export of approximately 1.2M desktop keywords and 580K mobile keywords (totalling ~1.78M rows) will likely exceed the included limits on standard plans. We recommend checking your remaining export credits before initiating the job to avoid unexpected charges. ⚠️ Performance Considerations and Limitations - Bulk exports for datasets over 500K keywords are processed in the background and are not instant. Allow up to 15–30 minutes for very large files to generate. - Do not close the platform or navigate away before the export job is queued — once queued, it will continue processing even if you close the tab. - The maximum single export size supported in-platform is 2M keyword rows per file. If your filtered dataset exceeds this, split it into smaller segments using additional filters such as volume range or alphabetical keyword grouping. - SERP feature data is refreshed on a rolling basis. Export timestamps reflect the data available at the time of export. - Very large CSV files (500K+ rows) may not open correctly in standard spreadsheet software. Use a tool such as Python, Google BigQuery, or a dedicated CSV viewer for best results. 🙋 Need Help? 🔍 Locating Your Watchlist in the Keyword Rank Tracker
After you add keywords to a watchlist, you can view them in two places: the Rank Tracker (Keyword Rank Tracker) under Keywords, or the watchlist filter inside Google Search Console (GSC). This article shows you exactly where each one lives. If you're unsure where you added your keywords, check both locations — your watchlist will appear in whichever one you used. 📊 View your watchlist in the Keyword Rank Tracker The Keyword Rank Tracker is the main home for tracked keywords. Use this path when you added keywords to a watchlist from anywhere in the SearchAtlas dashboard. 1. Open your SearchAtlas dashboard. 2. In the left-hand menu, click Keywords. 3. Select Rank Tracker (Keyword Rank Tracker). Your tracked keywords appear listed in the Keyword Rank Tracker, ready to monitor. 🔎 Find your watchlist inside Google Search Console (GSC) If you added keywords to a watchlist while working in the Google Search Console section, your watchlist lives there behind a filter. Open the GSC Keywords or Pages view 1. In the left-hand menu, go to GSC. 2. Click Keywords or Pages, depending on what you added. Apply the watchlist filter In the filter toolbar at the top of the Keywords or Pages page, find the watchlist filter alongside the other filter options. Select it to show only the items you saved to your watchlist. Once the filter is active, the page displays just your watchlisted keywords or pages. 🎯 You now know both places your watchlist lives: the Rank Tracker (Keyword Rank Tracker) under Keywords for tracked keywords, and the watchlist filter under GSC → Keywords or GSC → Pages. Open whichever matches where you added your keywords and pick up your monitoring from there.
How to Choose a Keyword Tracking Tool
Keywords are the foundation of any SEO strategy. Ranking for valuable search terms boosts your visibility, traffic, and sales. Keyword tracking helps you measure whether your SEO strategy is truly working — and the right software makes this process simple and insightful. This guide breaks down the importance of keyword tracking, key metrics to monitor, and how to choose the best keyword tracking tool for your business. 🧭 What is Keyword Tracking? Keyword tracking uses software to monitor the search terms your website ranks for and how those rankings change over time. But keyword tracking isn’t just “watching rankings.” The best tools provide meaningful data and metrics to help you: - Identify growth opportunities - Respond to ranking drops quickly - Scale your visibility in the SERPs Your goal: rank in the top positions for the keywords your audience uses. When a ranking drop is detected, use the historical snapshot view in the Rank Tracker to pinpoint when the drop occurred, then correlate that date with known Google algorithm updates, on-page content changes, or backlink shifts so you can take targeted corrective action. 📈 Why Keyword Tracking Matters How Search Engines Work Search engines crawl and index web pages based on their content and keyword usage. Keywords help bots understand your page topics and determine their relevance in the SERPs. How Keywords Tie Into Rankings Keywords define your web content. Strong keyword optimization increases visibility and helps attract potential customers actively searching for your solutions. Common Keyword Metrics When selecting or tracking keywords, focus on: - Search Volume – Number of monthly searches - CPC (Cost Per Click) – Indicator of conversion value and competition. CPC is now exposed directly inside the Search Atlas Rank Tracker keyword details view, so you no longer need an external research tool to see it alongside rank data. - Keyword Difficulty – How hard it is to rank for that keyword - SERP Features – Featured snippets, People Also Ask boxes, and other elements that affect click-through rate - Trend Direction – Whether a keyword's rank is improving, declining, or stable over time ⚠️ A note on trend labels: Trend indicators such as Stable, Up, or Down are only meaningful once a keyword has accumulated multiple historical snapshots. For newly added keywords with only one or two data points, treat the trend label as preliminary and allow several tracking cycles to pass before drawing conclusions about trend direction. 🔍 Types of Keyword Search Intent Different keywords reflect different user goals. SEO professionals categorize search intent as: - Informational – User seeks knowledge (“what is SEO?”) - Navigational – Looking for a specific website or page - Transactional – Ready to make a purchase - Commercial – Comparing options before purchase Transactional and commercial keywords tend to have the highest economic value and require close monitoring. 📊 What Metrics Should You Monitor? Track these four primary rank metrics for ongoing insight: 1. Total Keywords – How many different terms your pages rank for 2. Current Position – Where a keyword currently ranks 3. Average Position – The mean ranking across all tracked keywords 4. Rank Change – Gains or losses since the last update Monitoring these over time helps refine your SEO and react to fluctuations. ⏱️ How Often Should You Track Keyword Rankings? Keyword positions can change daily — even hourly. - Smaller or newer sites: Check rankings weekly (allow Google up to 90 days to index new content). - Larger or established sites: Track daily to respond to competitive movement fast. Remember that newly tracked keywords need several update cycles before trend labels become reliable — a “Stable” reading on a keyword you added yesterday simply means there isn't enough history yet. 📦 Understanding Your Keyword Tracking Quota Most keyword tracking platforms — including Search Atlas — count usage against a monthly quota. Understanding how this quota is consumed helps you avoid mid-month surprises. What counts toward your quota: - Every unique keyword actively being tracked across your projects - Keywords tracked across multiple locations or devices (each location/device combination typically counts separately) - Re-added keywords that were previously removed within the same billing cycle How to audit your current usage: 1. Open the Rank Tracker dashboard and review the keyword counter shown next to your plan limit. 2. Cross-check the total against the keyword lists inside each active project to confirm the numbers match what you expect. 3. Remove keywords you no longer need to monitor before adding new batches. If your quota appears over-consumed: If the counter shows usage that does not match the keywords actually visible in your projects, contact Search Atlas support and request an account scan. Stale cached counters can occasionally miscount tracked keywords, and the support team can refresh your usage totals from the source data. 🧩 Getting Started with Keyword Rank Tracking Step 1: Determine Your Most Important Keywords Identify the terms that bring you the most traffic and conversions — and the ones you want to target next. Step 2: Identify Key Position Opportunities You may not always reach position #1, but improving just one position can mean a major increase in clicks. Track keywords with strong potential for upward movement. Step 3: Choose a Keyword Rank Tracker Look for tools that deliver accuracy, transparency, and ease of use. The best trackers help you understand keyword performance across pages, devices, and regions. ⚙️ What Makes a Quality Keyword Tracking Software? Ask yourself the following when comparing tools: - Does it track 100% of your keyword rankings? - How frequently are positions updated? - Does it include historical data? - Can I generate custom keyword reports? - Can I track competitors and set ranking alerts? - Does it support international or local tracking? - Is quota usage transparent and easy to audit at any time? - Are trend labels backed by enough historical snapshots to be trustworthy? - Does it expose useful supplementary metrics like CPC, keyword difficulty, and SERP features alongside rank? Decision Framework: Evaluation Criteria Use these concrete criteria to score any keyword tracking tool before committing: 1. Data Freshness – How recently were rankings refreshed? Daily updates are the minimum standard for competitive niches. 2. Supported Metrics – Beyond raw position, does the tool surface CPC, search volume, difficulty, SERP features, and traffic estimates in one place? 3. Quota Transparency – Can you see exactly how many keywords count toward your plan, and audit usage on demand without contacting support? 4. Trend Accuracy – Does the tool require a minimum number of snapshots before assigning a trend label, or does it risk showing misleading “Stable” signals on brand-new keywords? 5. Historical Depth – How far back does ranking history go, and can you correlate drops with specific dates and algorithm updates? 6. Geographic & Device Coverage – Can you track the same keyword across multiple locations and devices that matter to your audience? 7. Reporting & Export – Are custom reports, scheduled exports, and white-label options available for client deliverables? 8. Support Responsiveness – When something looks off (e.g., quota miscount), how quickly can the team scan your account and resolve it? Must-Have Features 1. Comprehensive Keyword Coverage Ensure your tool can track all target terms — especially for agencies or enterprise sites managing hundreds of keywords. 2. Daily Position Updates Up-to-date data is essential for competitive industries where rankings shift fast. 3. Reliable Data Source Prefer tools built on Google’s API for accuracy and completeness over SERP scraping bots. 🧱 Keyword Tracking Tools for Site Owners Google Search Console (Free) The original keyword tracking platform offering unmatched keyword data. Best Features: - World’s largest SEO dataset - Daily updates and impression data - Accurate, real-time keyword visibility Limitations: Basic interface and limited visualizations. GSC Insights (Enterprise-Level) Built on Google’s API, GSC Insights combines GSC data with advanced visualization tools and actionable insights. Best Features: - Total Keyword History – Track all keywords your site has ranked for over time - Overall Rank Change – See the total position gains/losses sitewide - Full Historical Data – Chart all keyword data per page - Traffic & CTR by Rank – Identify underperforming yet high-potential keywords - Keyword Cannibalization Detection – Find overlapping pages competing for the same keyword Perfect for agencies or businesses needing data-rich keyword tracking and performance reporting. Moz Rank Tracker Simplified rank tracking for smaller sites or local businesses. Best Features: - Easy onboarding - Keyword data across Google, Bing, and Yahoo - Optional on-demand daily keyword checks Limitations: SERP scraping method and keyword caps (300–500 keywords depending on plan). ✅ Conclusion Regular keyword tracking is one of the highest-leverage activities in any SEO program — but the insights you get are only as good as the tool you choose. Prioritize platforms that offer fresh data, transparent quota usage, a rich set of supporting metrics (including CPC directly in the Rank Tracker), and trend labels that are backed by enough historical snapshots to be trustworthy. When rankings shift, lean on historical snapshot views to correlate movement with algorithm updates or content changes, and reach out to support if your quota or trend data ever looks inconsistent. With the right tracker in place, you'll catch opportunities — and problems — long before they affect traffic.

⚠️ Rank Tracker — Keywords Added to a List Do Not Appear Until Page Refresh
We're aware of an issue in the Rank Tracker where keywords you add to a list don't appear immediately. Your keywords are saved successfully — a manual page refresh is all it takes to make them visible. 🔍 What's Happening After you add one or more keywords to an existing list or a newly created list in the Rank Tracker, the list display does not update automatically. The page must reload before it reflects the new keywords. This affects all Rank Tracker users who add keywords to lists. If your list appears unchanged after adding keywords, the keywords were still saved — nothing was lost. 🛠️ Workaround Steps You can add multiple keywords in one session before refreshing. All of them will be saved and visible after a single reload. 1. Add your keywords to the list in Rank Tracker as usual. 2. Press F5 or click your browser's Refresh button to reload the page. 3. Your keywords will appear in the list after the page reloads. You do not need to re-enter any keywords — one refresh is enough to display everything you added in that session. 📡 Engineering Status Our engineering team has identified the root cause of this display issue and has addressed it. A fix is currently being rolled out. No further action is required on your end beyond the workaround above while the update deploys. 📞 When to Contact Support Reach out to our support team if any of the following occur: - Keywords are still missing after you refresh the page. - The list shows a different set of keywords than what you added. - The issue continues after this article is marked resolved. When contacting support, include your list name, the keywords you attempted to add, and your browser name and version so our team can investigate quickly. 🌀 Your data is safe — this is a display-only issue and our team is actively rolling out a fix. Use the page refresh workaround above to see your keywords right away, and contact support if the workaround does not resolve it for you.
