Site Explorer does not have a dedicated column labelled Spam Score or Spam Backlinks inside the backlinks data table. If you are looking for that exact label, you will not find it — and that is expected. Spam and toxicity filtering in Site Explorer works through a filter panel, not a standalone column. This article shows you exactly where to go and what to click.
🗺️ Where to Find Backlink Data in Site Explorer
Site Explorer lives under the Site Metrics section of the left sidebar. Follow these steps to reach the backlinks view:
- Click Site Metrics in the left sidebar. This takes you to the main Site Metrics dashboard at /site-explorer/list.
- Enter or select the domain you want to analyse.
- Open the Backlinks tab within the domain report.
You are now in the backlinks data table. This table shows all detected inbound links for the domain, but it does not include a visible spam or toxicity column by default.
🚫 Why There Is No "Spam Column" in the Table
The backlinks table displays link-level data such as source URL, anchor text, domain authority, and link type. Spam and toxicity signals are applied as filters rather than displayed as a sortable column. This keeps the table clean and prevents information overload when analysing large backlink profiles.
Any previous guidance suggesting you should look for a Spam Score column or Spam Backlinks column directly inside the table was inaccurate. Use the steps below instead.
🔍 How to Filter Backlinks by Spam or Toxicity
To isolate spammy or low-quality backlinks, use the filter panel above the backlinks table:
- Inside the Backlinks tab, locate the Filters bar at the top of the data table.
- Look for a filter option related to Toxicity, Spam Score, or Link Quality. The exact label may vary based on the current platform version.
- Set the filter to surface links above a toxicity threshold — for example, filtering to show only links flagged as high-toxicity or low-quality.
- The table will update to show only backlinks that match your selected criteria.
If you do not see a toxicity or spam filter option, ensure your domain report has finished loading completely, as filter options appear after the data has been fully processed.
📊 How to Generate a Spam Backlink Report
Once you have applied spam or toxicity filters to narrow the backlinks table, you can generate a report in two ways:
- On-screen report: The filtered table itself acts as your spam backlink report. You can review each flagged link, check the referring domain, and note the anchor text without any additional steps.
- Export: Use the Export button (typically located in the top-right area of the table) to download the filtered results as a CSV file. The export will include only the rows currently visible after your filters are applied, giving you a clean spam backlink list ready for a disavow file or outreach.
✅ Quick Checklist Before You Export
- You are inside Site Metrics → Backlinks tab, not the Overview or Referring Domains tab.
- At least one spam, toxicity, or link-quality filter is active so you are not exporting your entire backlink profile.
- The domain report has fully loaded — partial loads can hide filter controls.
- You have reviewed the flagged links to remove any false positives before exporting for a disavow file.
