If you use a WordPress SEO plugin such as Yoast SEO, Rank Math, or All in One SEO, you do not need to remove or disable it before installing the Search Atlas WordPress Plugin. Search Atlas is designed to work alongside other SEO plugins and automatically detects which one you have active on your site.
🔍 How Auto-Detection Works
When the Search Atlas WordPress Plugin is activated, it scans your WordPress environment and identifies any active, compatible SEO plugin. This detection happens automatically in the background — no setup steps or manual input are required from you.
Once detected, Search Atlas adjusts its behaviour to avoid conflicts with the other plugin. This means:
- Duplicate meta tags are prevented automatically.
- Search Atlas defers to the detected plugin for on-page SEO fields it already manages, such as meta titles and meta descriptions.
- Features unique to Search Atlas — including content optimisation, keyword tracking, and reporting — continue to function fully regardless of which SEO plugin is active.
✅ Supported SEO Plugins
Search Atlas auto-detection is compatible with the most widely used WordPress SEO plugins, including:
- Yoast SEO (free and premium)
- Rank Math
- All in One SEO (AIOSEO)
- The SEO Framework
If you are using a plugin not listed above, Search Atlas will still activate normally. However, automatic conflict resolution may not apply, and you should monitor your site for any duplicate meta output.
⚙️ Is There a Manual Configuration Option?
At this time, there is no setting inside the Search Atlas WordPress Plugin that lets you manually specify which SEO plugin you are using. Detection is fully automatic. You do not need to select or name your other plugin anywhere in the Search Atlas interface.
If auto-detection does not appear to be working correctly — for example, if you notice duplicate meta tags in your page source — try the following steps:
- Deactivate and then reactivate the Search Atlas WordPress Plugin from your WordPress Plugins screen. This triggers the detection process again.
- Confirm that only one other SEO plugin is active at a time. Running two third-party SEO plugins simultaneously alongside Search Atlas can cause detection issues.
- Clear your WordPress and server-side caches after reactivating the plugin.
- Check your page source (right-click a page and select View Page Source) and search for duplicate

🚫 Do I Need to Disable My Other SEO Plugin?
In most cases, no. You can keep your existing SEO plugin active. Many customers run Yoast SEO or Rank Math alongside Search Atlas without any issues. Your existing SEO plugin settings, metadata, and configurations will remain intact.
You may choose to disable your other SEO plugin if:
- You want to use Search Atlas as your sole on-page SEO management tool.
- You are experiencing persistent meta tag conflicts that reactivation does not resolve.
- Your site speed audit flags redundant plugin overhead as a performance concern.
If you decide to switch fully to Search Atlas for on-page SEO, export or document your existing meta titles, meta descriptions, and schema settings from your current plugin before deactivating it, so nothing is lost during the transition.
