Version 2.7.0 adds headless WordPress support, safer OTTO data management, flexible SEO controls, and improvements that make the plugin more reliable.

✨ What's New

  • Headless WordPress support: Keep your WordPress backend and decoupled frontend synchronized through SSO and heartbeat. SEO data is available through WPGraphQL, with frontend-aware canonical and og:url handling, taxonomy canonical overrides, bulk payload resolution, and a dedicated Headless Mode section in Advanced settings.
  • Safer OTTO persistence: Original Yoast, Rank Math, and AIOSEO values are backed up before OTTO updates them. Nothing is changed without your explicit consent, and you can restore all values to their original state.
  • Per-page language controls: Enable or disable language alternates (hreflang) for individual posts and pages.
  • Global SEO priority: Choose whether OTTO or custom SEO values take priority across your site.
  • Improved SEO Health: Titles and descriptions already applied by OTTO are now recognized, and large catalogues with extensive post metadata are processed more efficiently.
  • Cleaner administration: The third-party SEO sync screen now supports white-label branding, Instant Indexing settings are consolidated in Indexation Control, and duplicate controls have been removed.

🛠️ How to Use It

  1. Open the WordPress plugin settings and review the new Headless Mode options under Advanced if you use a decoupled frontend.
  2. Review OTTO persistence settings and provide consent before allowing OTTO to update existing SEO values.
  3. Use the restore action to return backed-up SEO values to their original state when needed.
  4. Configure your global OTTO or custom SEO priority, then adjust language alternates from individual post or page editor settings.
  5. Manage your Instant Indexing service account file from Indexation Control.

📋 What to Expect

  • Classic Editor saves preserve OTTO schema, and titles or descriptions containing curly quotes and dashes save correctly.
  • Third-party og:title and twitter:title values are preserved during OTTO renders.
  • Sitemaps exclude URLs that redirect elsewhere, and redirect safeguards prevent self-referencing or looping redirects.
  • Language alternates avoid duplicates, include a self-reference, and validate their entries, including on WPML sites.
  • The Visual HTML Editor prevents saves when the stored document cannot be preserved, protecting landing pages and full-document templates.
  • Deactivation, plugin updates, media metadata, white-label imports, frontend assets, and WebPage schema handling are more reliable.
