Overview
The OTTO pixel tracks SEO automation activity for a specific domain. The domain of an existing OTTO project cannot be changed in place — the website is set when the project is created and cannot be edited in the project settings. To move OTTO to a different domain (including www vs non-www), create a new OTTO project for the new domain and install its pixel. This article explains what to expect when removing an old project and setting up a new one.
Step 1: Remove an Existing Domain from the OTTO Pixel
- Log in to Search Atlas and navigate to the OTTO SEO section in the left sidebar.
- Locate the domain you want to remove in your project list.
- Look for the option to remove or delete that domain from your OTTO pixel configuration. The exact control will depend on your current interface — look for a menu or action associated with the domain row.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted to permanently remove the domain from your OTTO pixel configuration.
Note: Removing a domain disconnects it from OTTO pixel tracking. Historical data associated with that domain may no longer be accessible through the pixel after removal.
Step 2: Create a New OTTO Project for the New Domain
- While still in the OTTO SEO section, create a new OTTO project for the new domain.
- Enter the full domain name of your new project when creating the project.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the domain verification and pixel installation steps on the new domain.
- Once the pixel is installed and the domain is verified, OTTO will begin tracking SEO automation activity for the new domain.
Tip: Make sure you have access to the new domain's DNS settings or CMS before starting the addition process, as you may need to complete a verification step depending on your site setup.
Confirming the Change
After completing both steps, your project list in OTTO SEO should reflect the new domain. If the old domain still appears, try refreshing the page and confirming that the deletion was successfully completed. If the new domain has not yet been verified, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the verification process.
Common Issues
- Cannot find the remove option: Ensure you have the required account permissions to manage domains. If the option appears inactive or unavailable, contact your account admin to request domain management access.
- New domain not verifying: Double-check that you have followed all on-screen verification steps and that you have the necessary access to your domain's settings.
- Domain still showing after deletion: Try refreshing the page. If it persists, reach out to our support team for assistance.
