Some users experience the Keyword Magic Tool spinning indefinitely or timing out — especially when searching longer, multi-word seed phrases. This article explains why this happens, what was fixed, and what to do if you still encounter the issue.
⚠️ What the Problem Looks Like
- You enter a multi-word seed phrase (for example, a three- to five-word phrase) and click Search.
- The tool shows a loading spinner that never resolves.
- No keyword variations or results appear, even after waiting several minutes.
- The issue persists across browsers and after clearing your cache.
🛠️ What Was Causing It
Our engineering team identified and resolved several underlying issues that caused this behaviour:
- Zero-result queries were never cached. When a seed phrase returned no results from the search index, the tool would spin indefinitely instead of displaying an empty state.
- Performance bottlenecks in keyword list loading. Missing database indexes, redundant queries, and full-list reprocessing caused slow or stalled responses under certain conditions.
- Unhandled exceptions for specific keyword searches. Certain keyword patterns triggered errors that prevented results from loading at all.
All of these issues have been resolved and the fixes are live in production.
✅ Steps to Try If You Are Still Seeing the Issue
- Refresh the page and try your search again. Now that the fix is live, most searches that previously timed out should complete successfully.
- Try a slightly different version of your seed phrase. If a very specific multi-word phrase still produces no results, try shortening it by one or two words to confirm the tool is responding correctly.
- Clear your browser cache. Cached data from before the fix can occasionally interfere. Clear your cache, reload the platform, and repeat your search.
- Try a different browser or an incognito window. This rules out browser-specific issues or extensions that may interfere with loading.
- Navigate away and return. Go to a different section of the platform, then return to Left sidebar → Keywords → Keyword Magic and run your search again.
📋 When Results Are Empty vs. When the Tool Is Broken
After the fix, if a seed phrase genuinely has no keyword data available, the tool will now return an empty result state rather than spinning indefinitely. An empty result is not a bug — it means the phrase has no matching keyword variations in the database. Try a broader or shorter seed phrase in that case.
