🗺️ Can OTTO Be Scoped to a Subdirectory?
OTTO SEO is designed to operate at the root domain level. This means when you connect a site to OTTO, it analyses and deploys optimisations across the entire domain — it cannot be restricted to a single subdirectory such as /pl/ on a multilingual site.
If your site uses subdirectories to separate languages or regions (for example, example.com/pl/ for Polish content), OTTO will still process the full domain. There is currently no option to limit OTTO's scope to one specific path segment.
💡 Workarounds for Multilingual or Subdirectory Sites
If you only want to optimise a specific language version of your site, consider the following approaches:
- Review OTTO's suggestions selectively: After OTTO generates recommendations, you can choose to deploy only those changes that apply to your target subdirectory's pages. Not every suggestion needs to be approved.
- Use a subdomain instead: If your site architecture is flexible, hosting your regional content on a subdomain (e.g., pl.example.com) allows you to create a separate OTTO project scoped exclusively to that subdomain.
- Reach out before committing: If you are evaluating OTTO for a multilingual site, we recommend speaking with our team before your trial ends to find the best setup for your use case.
❌ How to Cancel Your OTTO Trial
If OTTO does not meet your current needs, you can cancel your trial at any time before it converts to a paid subscription. Follow these steps:
- Log in to your Search Atlas account.
- In the left sidebar, click OTTO SEO → All Sites (SEO Automation) (URL: /seo-automation-v3).
- Locate the trial subscription you want to cancel and open its settings or billing details.
- Select the cancellation option and follow the on-screen prompts to confirm.
- You should receive an on-screen confirmation message that your trial has been cancelled.
Important: After cancelling, refresh the page to verify the cancellation is reflected in your account status. In rare cases, the cancellation may appear active before a page refresh completes the update. If the trial still shows as active after refreshing, this is a known display issue — contact our team immediately via the chat widget to confirm your account status.
💳 Will I Be Charged After Cancelling My Trial?
No charges will occur if you cancel your trial before the trial period ends. Here is what you need to know:
- Cancelling your trial stops any future billing for the OTTO subscription.
- You will not be charged for the trial period itself — trial access is free.
- If you have any active OTTO top-up add-ons, these should also be reviewed and cancelled separately, as add-ons are billed independently from the base subscription.
- Once cancelled, your OTTO projects will move to an inactive or frozen state and will no longer consume credits.
We recommend taking a screenshot of your cancellation confirmation screen for your own records. If you do not receive a confirmation on-screen or via email, treat this as a signal to verify with our support team before your trial period expires.
⚠️ Known Issues to Be Aware Of
Our team has resolved several issues related to OTTO trial and subscription management. Here are things to watch for:
- Cancellation confirmation not persisting: On rare occasions, the cancellation screen may show a success message, but the subscription appears active again after a page refresh. This has been addressed, but if you experience it, contact support right away.
- OTTO weekly emails after cancellation: Some users previously continued receiving OTTO-related emails after cancelling. If this happens to you, it is safe to ignore those emails — your cancellation is still valid. Notify our team so we can remove you from those sends.
- Trial start confirmation emails: If you did not receive a trial confirmation email when you signed up, this does not affect your trial status. Your account dashboard is the authoritative source for your subscription state.
