🔍 Why duplicated lists appear

When a numbered or bulleted list appears first as a formatted list and again as regular paragraphs, the content may contain two versions of the same text. This can happen when list formatting is converted during publishing, when a page is resynced, or when the website editor keeps an earlier copy alongside the updated content.

The issue may be visible in the published page even when the article looks correct in Search Atlas. This is usually a publishing or website-editor issue rather than intentional content generation.

✅ Check the article in Search Atlas

  1. Open Content in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Content Genius.
  3. Open the affected article using the relevant writing action, such as Write an article or Rework existing article.
  4. Search for the duplicated list text and confirm whether it appears once or twice in the article editor.

If the content appears twice in Search Atlas, remove the repeated paragraphs or list before publishing. Keep only one version of each numbered or bulleted section.

🧹 Fix the live blog page

  1. Open the affected page in your website or CMS editor.
  2. Switch to the HTML, code, or source view if available.
  3. Find the repeated list content. One copy may use a list element, while the other may use separate paragraph elements.
  4. Delete the extra copy and preserve the correctly formatted numbered or bulleted list.
  5. Save or update the page, then check the published URL in a private browser window.

Do not simply hide the duplicate with styling. Removing the extra content from the page source prevents visitors and search engines from receiving repeated text.

🔄 If the duplicate returns after syncing

If the list reappears after a resync or update, first remove the duplicate from the website editor and save the page again. Then compare the article in Search Atlas with the live page. Avoid repeatedly resyncing the article until the duplicate source has been identified, as this can restore the unwanted copy.

Also check whether a page template, reusable content block, import tool, or publishing integration is inserting the list a second time. Test one affected page after making the correction before updating multiple managed blog pages.

🛡️ Prevent future duplicates

  • Review list sections in the article preview before publishing.
  • Use one list format consistently instead of combining a formatted list with manually repeated paragraphs.
  • After publishing, verify the live URL and inspect the source when the visible content looks duplicated.
  • When updating an existing article, edit the current page instead of creating a second copy.
  • Keep a record of corrected URLs so the same pages can be checked after future syncs.
