Website Studio uses client-side rendering (CSR) by default. This means page content is generated in the browser after the initial HTML file loads, rather than being pre-built on a server before delivery.
This approach powers the drag-and-drop editing experience, but it does have implications for SEO and technical setups you should be aware of.
⚙️ Server-Side Rendering (SSR) and Prerendering
At this time, Website Studio does not support server-side rendering (SSR) or static prerendering. Pages are rendered entirely on the client side. This means:
- Search engine crawlers that do not execute JavaScript may see limited page content on the initial crawl.
- Major crawlers like Googlebot do process JavaScript, so most content will eventually be indexed, though there may be a crawl delay.
- SSR or prerendering cannot be enabled or configured from within the platform at this time.
If your project has strict SSR requirements, we recommend reviewing your use case with our team before building in Website Studio.
💡 What This Means for Your SEO
Client-side rendering is widely used across the web and does not automatically hurt your search rankings. However, keeping your page titles, meta descriptions, and Open Graph tags correctly configured within Website Studio's available settings is important, as these elements support crawler discoverability.
🔒 Code Editing Access and Meta Tag Limitations
Website Studio does not provide direct access to the underlying source code of your site. This is by design to maintain platform stability, security, and a consistent editing experience for all users.
As a result, the following actions are not currently available:
- Editing raw HTML, CSS, or JavaScript files directly.
- Injecting arbitrary code into the page outside of supported embed fields.
