This article answers the most common technical questions about Website Studio, including how page rendering works, how to manage og:image placeholder tags, and how Footer Embeddings behave across platform updates.
⚙️ Server-Side Rendering and Prerendering
Website Studio currently renders pages on the client side. Server-side rendering (SSR) and prerendering are not available at this time.
This means that search engine crawlers and social media platforms that do not execute JavaScript may see an empty body when they request a page built in Website Studio. As a result:
- Dynamic content populated by JavaScript may not be indexed correctly by all crawlers.
- Open Graph previews (such as link cards on social platforms) may not display as expected if the crawler cannot render JavaScript.
- SEO signals that depend on fully rendered HTML at the point of the initial server response may be limited.
Prerendering and SSR support are under consideration for a future update. If this capability is critical for your project, we recommend monitoring the platform changelog for announcements.
🖼️ Managing og:image Placeholder Tags
When a new Website Studio project is created, an og:image placeholder tag may be inserted automatically into the page head. If you have not yet assigned a real image to this tag, it can appear as an empty or broken meta value when your page is shared on social media.
At this time, direct code editing is not available within Website Studio projects. This means you cannot manually remove or edit raw HTML meta tags from inside the builder interface.
To resolve an unwanted og:image placeholder tag, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Website Studio from the platform.
- Open the page you want to update.
- Check your site or page settings within Website Studio for any available image or social sharing fields and assign a real image to replace the placeholder value if the option is present.
- If the tag remains empty and cannot be resolved through the available settings, contact our support team via the chat widget (details at the end of this article) and request manual removal of the placeholder tag on your behalf.
Our team can remove empty og:image placeholder tags directly when requested through support.
💡 Best Practices for Meta Tags in Website Studio
While direct code editing is unavailable, you can still manage key meta information through the builder's built-in settings:
- Set your page title and meta description through the available settings within Website Studio.
- Always upload a real og:image before publishing to avoid empty social preview cards.
- If you need a meta tag removed or adjusted and no setting is available to do so, escalate to our support team with your project name and a description of the tag in question.
