Credits in Search Atlas power a range of actions across the platform, including building local citations. This article explains how to purchase credits and local citations, and what steps to take if you run into issues during checkout.
🗺️ What Are Local Citations?
Local citations are online mentions of your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) across directories, review sites, and other platforms. Building consistent citations helps improve your local search visibility. In Search Atlas, you can manage and build citations from the Local Citations section.
To navigate there: Left sidebar → Local → Local Citations.
💳 How to Purchase Credits
- Log in to your Search Atlas account.
- Navigate to Billing → Plans & Top-ups and click the Top Up button.
- Select the number of credits you want to purchase.
- Confirm your payment details and click Top Up.
Once the transaction is complete, your credits will be added to your account immediately and will be available to use across supported features, including local citation building.
🛠️ What to Do If the Purchase Button Does Nothing
If you click Top Up and nothing happens, this is usually caused by one of the following. Work through these steps before contacting support:
- Browser issues: Try a different browser (Google Chrome is recommended) or open an incognito/private window to rule out extension or cache conflicts.
- Pop-up or ad blockers: Disable any browser extensions that block pop-ups or scripts, as these can prevent the payment window from loading.
- Cached data: Clear your browser cache and cookies, then reload the page and try again.
- Slow connection: A poor internet connection can prevent the payment gateway from responding. Check your connection and retry.
- Try a different device: If the issue persists, attempt the purchase on a different computer or mobile device.
📊 How to Use Credits for Local Citations
- Go to Left sidebar → Local → Local Citations.
- Select the business profile you want to build citations for.
- Choose the citation packages or individual directories you want to submit to.
- Confirm the credit cost shown on screen and complete the submission.
Your available credit balance is displayed before you confirm, so you can always verify you have enough credits before proceeding.

- Always use an up-to-date browser version for the smoothest checkout experience.
- Make sure your payment method on file is current and has sufficient funds.
- Do not refresh the page while a purchase is processing, as this may interrupt the transaction.
