🗺️ What Is a Project UUID and Why Do You Need It?

A UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) is a unique alphanumeric string assigned to every project in Search Atlas. It looks like this: a1b2c3d4-e5f6-7890-abcd-ef1234567890. You may need it when contacting support, using the Search Atlas API, or troubleshooting a specific project such as RevRocket.

🧭 Method 1: Find the UUID Directly in the URL

This is the fastest method and works in most cases.

  1. Log in to Search Atlas and go to Left sidebar → OTTO SEO → Overview.
  2. Click the project card you want (e.g., RevRocket) to open the project dashboard.
  3. Look at the browser address bar. The URL will contain a long string of characters — that is your project UUID. For example: app.searchatlas.com/seo-automation-v3/a1b2c3d4-e5f6-7890-abcd-ef1234567890?category=...
  4. Copy the UUID segment between /seo-automation-v3/ and ?category=....

🛠️ Method 2: Use Browser Developer Tools (Network Tab)

Use this method if the UUID does not appear directly in the URL bar.

  1. Navigate to Left sidebar → OTTO SEO → Overview and open your project (e.g., RevRocket).
  2. Open your browser's developer tools by pressing F12 on Windows/Linux or Cmd + Option + I on Mac. Alternatively, right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect.
  3. Click the Network tab at the top of the developer tools panel.
  4. Make sure Fetch/XHR is selected in the filter row just below the tab bar. If you do not see any requests, press F5 or Cmd + R to reload the page.
  5. Click on any request in the list that references your project. Look at the Request URL in the Headers panel on the right — it will contain the UUID as part of the endpoint path (e.g., /api/projects/a1b2c3d4-e5f6-7890-abcd-ef1234567890/).
  6. Copy the UUID string — it always follows the pattern of 8-4-4-4-12 alphanumeric characters separated by hyphens.

✅ Quick Tips

  • Each project has its own unique UUID — make sure you have the correct project open before copying.
  • The UUID is the same regardless of which page or tab you are on within a project.
  • If you have multiple projects (e.g., RevRocket and others), open each one individually to retrieve its specific UUID.
  • UUIDs do not change over time, so you can save it for future reference.
