🛠️ Disable Search Atlas Schema Injection on Your Site

🔍 What Is Schema Injection?

When Search Atlas manages your on-page SEO through OTTO SEO, it can automatically inject schema markup (structured data) into your site's pages. This helps search engines better understand your content. However, there may be situations where you want to disable this feature — for example, if you are managing schema manually, using a third-party plugin, or troubleshooting conflicts.

⚙️ How to Disable Schema Injection

Follow these steps to turn off schema injection for your site:

  1. Log in to your Search Atlas account.
  2. In the left sidebar, click OTTO SEO → All Sites (SEO Automation).
  3. Select the site you want to manage from the site list.
  4. Navigate to the OTTO SEO dashboard for that site.
  5. Locate the Schema section within the OTTO SEO settings.
  6. Toggle off the schema injection option to disable it.
  7. Confirm your changes when prompted.

Once disabled, Search Atlas will stop injecting schema markup into your site's pages. Any schema that was previously injected may need to be manually removed depending on how it was implemented.

💡 Things to Consider Before Disabling

Before turning off schema injection, keep the following in mind:

  • Impact on rich results: Schema markup helps your pages qualify for rich results in Google Search (such as star ratings, FAQs, and breadcrumbs). Disabling injection may reduce your eligibility for these features.
  • Existing schema conflicts: If you already have schema added through another plugin or tool, running two sources simultaneously can cause duplicate or conflicting structured data. Disabling Search Atlas injection in this case is recommended.
  • Re-enabling is easy: You can turn schema injection back on at any time by returning to the same OTTO SEO settings and toggling the option back on.

🚀 Verifying Schema Has Been Removed

After disabling schema injection, it is good practice to confirm that the structured data has been removed from your pages:

  1. Visit any page on your site that was previously receiving injected schema.
  2. Open Google's Rich Results Test (search for it at Google) and enter the page URL.
  3. Review the results to confirm no Search Atlas-generated schema is detected.
  4. You can also right-click the page and select View Page Source, then search for schema or application/ld+json to check for remaining structured data.
