Why was I charged for several top-ups at once?

Search Atlas offers an auto top-up feature for Universal Credits. When it is enabled on your account, the system automatically purchases additional credits whenever your balance falls below a set threshold, charging your saved payment method. Each trigger creates a separate one-time charge. Running large jobs can deplete credits quickly, so several top-up charges can appear close together.

Auto top-up is off by default and can only be switched on from the account. The default trigger threshold is 5,000 credits. After 3 consecutive failed charges, auto top-up turns itself off automatically.

How to check your auto top-up settings

  1. Click your Avatar Menu (👤) in the top-right corner.
  2. Open the Billing dashboard.
  3. Find the Automatic top-up card to see the current threshold and top-up amount.

How to stop future automatic charges

  1. On the same Automatic top-up card, switch the toggle to Off.
  2. Confirm when prompted. No further automatic purchases will be made; credits already purchased remain available.

Are purchased credits refunded?

Top-up purchases are credit purchases for usage. If you believe charges were made in error, contact us via live chat with the dates and amounts and we will review them against your account activity. Do not dispute with your bank before we verify — a bank dispute can suspend your account access.

Note on recurring top-ups

Separate from auto top-up, a credit top-up purchased at checkout can be either one-time or recurring monthly — the choice is made at purchase. A recurring top-up renews with your subscription until you cancel it. Check Billing → Plans & Top-ups to see which type you have.
