🧠 OTTO: Filling Out Your Knowledge Graph

Your guide to completing your OTTO project's Knowledge Graph for the best optimization results.

Updated yesterday

The Knowledge Graph is the central hub of information that OTTO relies on to understand your business. It connects details such as services, locations, products, and even sections like Top Pages into a single, structured system. By organizing this data, OTTO can see the bigger picture of how your business appears online, rather than treating each piece of information in isolation.

This structure is what enables OTTO’s features. The Knowledge Graph informs tools such as GBP posts, citation building, backlinks, and AI content creation. It also helps OTTO generate intelligent suggestions for fixes, content ideas, and optimization opportunities based on how your business data and top-performing pages are connected. In short, the Knowledge Graph is what powers OTTO’s ability to deliver accurate, scalable, and effective SEO automation.

🧭 Filling Out Your Knowledge Graph

When you create a new OTTO project, the first step is to complete your Knowledge Graph. This ensures OTTO understands the core details of your business from the start.

✅ Steps to fill out your Knowledge Graph during project creation:

  • Create a new OTTO project

  • Enter your business information, including name, website, services, products, and location details

  • Save the project to initialize your Knowledge Graph

🔗 Knowledge Graph: GSC and Top Pages

  • Connect your Google Search Console (GSC) to OTTO

  • Open the Knowledge Graph from your project dashboard

  • In Top Pages, add your most important URLs (money pages, services, products, lead-gen content)

  • Review the keywords pulled from GSC for each page to confirm alignment and spot gaps

  • Save your updates to keep the Knowledge Graph accurate

▶️ Updating Your Knowledge Graph

If you need to make changes later, you can update your Knowledge Graph directly from your OTTO dashboard.

✅ Steps to update your Knowledge Graph from the dashboard:

  1. Go to your OTTO projects dashboard

  2. Locate the project you want to update

  3. Click the Knowledge Graph button

  4. Add or edit information such as services, products, locations, or Top Pages

  5. Save your changes to refresh your Knowledge Graph

📍 How to Get the Correct Google Embedded Map Link

Embedding Google Maps is often required for platforms like Search Atlas, press releases, or other tools. Using the wrong type of link is the most common cause of errors, so it’s essential to follow the proper process.

✅ How to get the correct embed link:

  1. Open Google Maps

  2. Search and select your business or location

  3. Click the Share button

  4. In the pop-up, select the Embed a map tab

  5. Click Copy HTML to copy the iframe embed code

Correct example: https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m18!...
Incorrect example: https://goo.gl/maps/...

Only the full embed URL (or iframe code) will work. Short links like goo.gl/maps are not valid.

📊 Common Errors and Fixes

  • Invalid Google Embed Map URL

Cause: Using the wrong type of link (e.g., from a GBP profile or shortened URL)
Fix: Get the URL from the Share > Embed a map tab in Google Maps.

  • Incorrect Link in Tool Integrations (e.g., Search Atlas, Cloud Stack)
Cause: Pasting a direct map URL instead of the iframe code
Fix: Use the iframe embed code format:

<iframe src="[GOOGLE_MAPS_EMBED_URL]" width="600" height="450" style="border:0;" allowfullscreen="" loading="lazy"></iframe> Replace [GOOGLE_MAPS_EMBED_URL] with the correct embed link.

  • Unsupported Links in Specific Tools

Tools like OTTO v3 only accept iframe embed codes. Direct Google Maps URLs will not work.

  • Map Not Displaying in Press Releases

Some press release distributors block embeds. If your map doesn’t show, check multiple distributor links in your report. This is expected behavior and not an error in your embed code.

💡 Best Practices for Embedding Google Maps

  • Always use the embed link from the Embed a map tab

  • Test your embed inside the tool or platform before publishing

  • Be aware that specific platforms (like press release distributors) may block map embeds by default

Once your Knowledge Graph is complete and well-maintained, OTTO can generate more accurate insights, automate key SEO tasks, and enhance your overall online presence. By keeping your business data, top pages, and map details up to date, you ensure that OTTO always works with the most reliable information. This foundation is what enables your projects to scale smoothly and deliver stronger, data-driven results over time.
