📘 Introducing the Smart Ads Sidebar: A Cleaner, More Intuitive PPC Workflow

This article walks you through the Smart Ads layout and how each section works.

Updated over 2 months ago

Navigation Path:
Left Sidebar → Smart Ads

The sidebar contains four primary sections:

  1. Campaign Hub

  2. Campaign Performance

  3. Negative Keywords

  4. Reports

Each is designed for a different stage of the PPC workflow.

Let’s break them down 🚀

:🤖 1. Campaign Hub — Your Command Center for Campaign Setup

The Campaign Hub is now dedicated solely to campaign setup, management, and structural navigation.

What you can do here:

► View all businesses connected to Smart Ads

You’ll see your list of businesses and the campaigns attached to each.

► Drill down into campaign structure

Clicking a business → shows its campaigns
Clicking a campaign → shows its ad groups
Clicking an ad group → shows its ad copies

This hierarchical navigation is new, clearer, and easier to follow.

► Complete or update setup

You’ll see prompts to finish incomplete configuration steps.

► Add or delete campaigns

This remains your campaign-creation hub.

What you won’t find here anymore:

Performance metrics.

The old UI mixed analytics inside the setup experience, which was confusing for users.

Now those insights live in their own dedicated section.

📈 2. Campaign Performance — All Performance Insights in One Place

This is one of the biggest improvements.

Instead of clicking a brand logo to open a hidden performance panel, users now have a centralized Campaign Performance dashboard.

What you can do here:

► View all PPC performance metrics

Including results at the:

  • Campaign level

  • Ad group level

  • Ad copy level

► Filter by campaign type

Making it easy to isolate search campaigns, retargeting campaigns, imported campaigns, and more.

► Compare performance across campaigns

You now get a multi-campaign view instead of needing to drill into each one manually.

This is a major UX improvement and gives users the clarity they need to make optimization decisions faster.

🔑 3. Negative Keywords — A Dedicated Workspace for Traffic Control

Negative keywords now live in their own standalone section.

What you can do here:

► View all negative keywords across all campaigns

This global view makes it easier to ensure consistency and avoid waste.

► Activate or manage negative keywords directly

Users can toggle them on/off or modify them.

► Drill into individual negative keyword lists

While activation is possible from anywhere, deeper inspection happens in this dedicated page.

This separation ensures clarity, prevents accidental misconfiguration, and gives you full control over your traffic quality filters.

📊 4. Reports — Inside Smart Ads

Reports is a dedicated analytics space inside Smart Ads, designed to help you understand performance, ROI, and optimization opportunities after campaigns are live. It is intentionally separated from campaign setup and traffic controls.

What you’ll find in Reports

► Core KPI Overview

At the top of the Reports view, you’ll see key PPC metrics, including:

  • Cost

  • Clicks

  • Conversions

  • Conversion Rate

  • CPA

  • ROAS

Each KPI card is configurable. You can change which metric is displayed per card, allowing you to tailor the dashboard to your optimization focus.

► Conversion Value & ROAS Configuration

Reports allows you to manually define conversion values for your conversion actions.

By setting a value per conversion, Search Atlas can calculate true ROAS (Return on Ad Spend), turning Reports into an actionable revenue and efficiency analysis tool rather than passive reporting.

► Budget vs Spend Monitoring

The Budget vs Spend module shows:

  • Total budget

  • Total spent

  • Remaining spend

This view is fixed to the monthly budget cycle and is not affected by date filters, giving you a stable reference point for pacing and overspend monitoring.

► Performance Visualization

Reports includes advanced visual analysis tools:

  • Performance over time charts with metric switching

  • Top locations by conversions

  • Scatter and bubble charts with preset views such as ROI, cost efficiency, funnel strength, and reach-to-engagement

  • Fully customizable views where you define X-axis, Y-axis, and bubble size

These visualizations can be explored at the campaign, ad group, or keyword level and stay synchronized with the data tables below.

► Search & Keyword Intelligence

Inside the Search & Keywords tab, you can:

  • Review search terms triggering your ads

  • See keyword-level performance metrics

  • Analyze conversions, CPA, cost, and conversion rate by keyword

  • Track recently added negative keywords and total active negative keywords

This gives you clear insight into intent, waste, and optimization opportunities.

► Audience & Analytics Insights

The Audience & Analytics tab surfaces:

  • Historical trend heatmaps by time of day and day of week

  • Demographic breakdowns (gender and age)

  • Device performance across phones, tablets, and computers

These insights help you understand who is converting, when conversions happen, and which devices drive results.

The Smart Ads sidebar is intentionally simple, structured, and user-friendly. By separating campaign creation, campaign analytics, and negative keyword management into clearly defined sections, Search Atlas has streamlined the PPC workflow and reduced the complexity of managing Google Ads campaigns through the platform.
