🏷️ Part 2 – Create a New Tag in GTM

  1. Log in to your Google Tag Manager account at https://tagmanager.google.com.

  2. On the left menu, click Tags.

  3. In the top right corner of the Tags page, click the New button (white box with a plus sign).

  4. A new panel will slide in from the right — at the top, give your tag a name (e.g., “SearchAtlas Tracking”).

⚙️ Part 3 – Configure the Tag

  1. In the same panel, click on the Tag Configuration box (it has a grey icon).

  2. A list of tag types will appear — scroll down to the section labeled Custom.

  3. Click Custom HTML.

🎯 Part 4 – Set the Trigger

  1. Below the HTML field, find the Triggering section and click Choose a trigger to make this tag fire.

  2. A list of triggers will appear — select All Pages so the script runs everywhere on your site.

  3. Click Add (bottom right of the panel).

📤 Part 5 – Publish the Tag

  1. Back in the tag panel, click Save (top right).

  1. You’ll return to the Tags list — in the top right of GTM, click Submit to publish your container.

  2. In the confirmation screen, click Publish.

🚀 Part 6 – Enable OTTO in Search Atlas

  1. Go back to your Search Atlas dashboard.

  2. In OTTO & Audit → All Sites, locate your site in the list.

  3. Click Enable next to your site’s name.

🛟 Troubleshooting if OTTO Shows “Not Engaged”

  1. ✅ Check that you pasted the correct OTTO Pixel script into GTM.

  2. ✅ Confirm the trigger is set to All Pages.

  3. ✅ Make sure you have published the container in GTM after saving.

  4. ✅ Wait 1–2 minutes, then refresh your Search Atlas dashboard.

  5. ✅ If it still says “Not Engaged”, click Enable again in Search Atlas.

You’re all set!

Your OTTO Pixel is now connected to your site through Google Tag Manager and will run on every page you’ve selected.

💡 Pro Tip: Any time you make changes to your tags or triggers in GTM, remember to publish the container again so OTTO continues tracking and optimizing your site without interruptions.

If you still see “Not Engaged” in your Search Atlas dashboard after following the steps and troubleshooting, recheck your GTM setup or contact our support team with your site’s UUID and script code handy — this will help us assist you faster.
