💰 Resolve an Underpaid Article Remittance

Last updated on Oct 29, 2026

💵 What an underpaid remittance means

An underpaid publisher article remittance happens when the amount you received is less than the price agreed for a completed article. For example, an agreed price of $67 and a payment of $2 leaves $65 outstanding. This article explains how to confirm the gap and ask our team to review the remaining balance.

📋 Details to gather before you ask for a review

A clear record helps us match the order, the agreed price, and the payment that was sent. Collect these items before you open chat:

  • Article or order identifier shown in your account
  • Agreed price and the currency
  • Amount received, including the payment date
  • Outstanding balance (agreed price minus amount received)
  • The payout method and any reference or transaction ID from your payment provider
  • Screenshots of the order price and the received payment, if you have them

Do not send full bank account numbers or other sensitive payment credentials in chat. A transaction reference is enough.

🔍 How to confirm the amount still owed

  1. Open the completed article order in your Search Atlas account and note the agreed publisher price.
  2. Open the related payout or remittance record and compare the amount marked as paid with the amount that arrived.
  3. Subtract the amount received from the agreed price. In the example above, $67 minus $2 equals $65 outstanding.
  4. Check whether the record shows a partial payment, a pending balance, or more than one payout for the same article.
  5. Confirm you are looking at the correct order so a payment for another article is not mixed in.

If the numbers in your account already match the amount you received, the order record is the source we will review. If your bank or payment provider shows a different amount, keep that transaction reference ready.

⚙️ What our team checks

When you report a short payment, a teammate reviews the order price, payout status, and payment reference. The review looks for a recorded partial payment, a second payout that is still processing, a mismatch between orders, or a payment that was sent but not fully received. We cannot confirm a missing balance from the amount alone, so the order identifier and payment reference are required.

Asking for an update does not create a new charge or change the agreed price. If the review confirms that money is still owed, the team will arrange payment of the remaining balance to the payout method on the order. Timing depends on payment processing after the balance is approved.
