💳 How to Remove a Saved Credit Card

Last updated on Nov 04, 2026

💳 What this article covers

You can remove a saved credit card from your Search Atlas billing profile if you no longer want it stored for future payments. Removing the card stops it from being used for new charges. It does not cancel an active subscription by itself, and it does not issue a refund for charges that have already been processed.

✅ Before you remove the card

Check these items first so you do not leave an unpaid balance or an active plan that still needs a payment method:

  • Active subscription: If you do not plan to keep using Search Atlas, cancel the subscription before you remove the card. Open your profile menu, select Billing, open the Services tab, and use the menu on the plan row to select Cancel. To move to a different plan instead, use Change Plan on the Plans & Top-ups tab.
  • Open invoices: Pay any outstanding invoice first from Billing, then the Invoices tab, using Pay. Removing the card does not pay or erase that balance, and the removed card is not charged again for it.
  • Account access: Sign in with an account that can open Billing. Viewer team members cannot manage payment methods, and Billing is hidden for agency child accounts and some partner-managed accounts such as Vendasta and GoHighLevel.
  • Backup method: If the subscription will stay active, add another valid payment method before you delete the current card.

🛠️ Remove the card in billing

  1. Sign in to Search Atlas.
  2. Open your profile menu and select Billing. On the Plans & Top-ups tab, select Manage next to your card. This opens Manage Payment Methods.
  3. Find the saved credit card you want to remove.
  4. On the card you want to remove, open the three-dot menu and select Delete.
  5. In the Delete Payment Method dialog, review the card and select Delete Card. If it is the default card, first choose another saved card as the new default. If no other card is available and the subscription is still chargeable, removal is declined until you add one. Cancel closes the dialog without removing the card.
  6. The card list reloads automatically. Confirm the card no longer appears in Manage Payment Methods.

If deletion is declined, the card is probably the only payment method on a chargeable subscription. Add another valid card and try again. If you cannot open Billing or Manage Payment Methods, your account does not have billing access.

📌 What happens after removal

  • The card is no longer stored for future Search Atlas charges.
  • Past invoices remain available under Billing, then Invoices, where you can download them. Card removal does not remove that history.
  • Charges that were already submitted are not reversed by deleting the card.
  • An active plan can fail to renew if no replacement payment method is on file.

💬 If you still need the card removed

If you cannot remove the card yourself, or you want a team member to delete it because you are leaving Search Atlas, contact support from inside the platform. If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and send your message. A member of our support team will reply in the chat.

In your message, include the account email, the last four digits of the card, and whether you also want the subscription cancelled. Do not send the full card number or security code.
