📌 Why extra footer text appears
Undesirable text below your site footer usually comes from a custom footer block saved in Website Studio. OTTO can keep that block on the live site even after you edit the main footer, which is why the text looks sticky and sits below the red line you marked.
The custom text is separate from your theme footer. Clearing only the visible footer content does not remove it. You need to delete the custom footer text itself, then save and publish again.
🧹 Remove the custom footer text
- Sign in to Search Atlas and open the project that shows the extra text.
- Open Website Studio for that site.
- Select the page, or the site-wide layout if the text appears on every page.
- Open the Footer area and look for a custom text or HTML block under the main footer.
- Delete all text inside that custom footer field. Leave the field empty. Do not replace it with a space or a line break.
- Check every page template that uses the same footer. Remove the same text anywhere else it is saved.
- Click Save, then publish or update the site so the empty footer is sent live.
🔄 If the text is still sticky
A saved copy can stay on the live site until the latest version is published and the browser cache is cleared.
- Confirm the custom footer field is completely empty, then save and publish one more time.
- Hard refresh the live page, or open it in a private window.
- Clear any site or CDN cache if your host keeps an older version of the page.
- Review other pages and the global layout so an older footer is not reused.
- Remove any duplicate custom code snippet that reprints the same sentence under the footer.
✅ Confirm the footer is clean
After publishing, scroll to the bottom of the live page. The area below the footer should be blank, with no extra line of text. Check both desktop and mobile, and open at least one other page that shares the footer.
If the text returns after a new OTTO update, open Website Studio again and confirm the custom footer field is still empty before you republish.
