📊 Why the numbers do not match
A ranking count is not one fixed number for a project. It is a total for the date range, filters, and counting rule you are viewing. Changing the timeframe changes which ranking checks are included, so a weekly total and a monthly total can both be correct and still not match.
Customers usually see this when a chart, a summary card, and a keyword table show different counts for overlapping dates. Compare the same view, the same filters, and the same definition of “ranking” before treating the gap as a data error.
🗓️ What each timeframe includes
Shorter ranges only include checks inside those dates. Longer ranges include more days, so more keywords can appear, drop out, or change position.
- Last day or latest check: keywords that have a current ranking in the most recent snapshot.
- A custom range: keywords that ranked on at least one day inside that range, or the count your selected report uses for that range.
- Keywords added or removed: a keyword tracked for only part of the range is included only while it was active.
- Not ranking: keywords with no position in that period are often left out of a “ranking” total even if they remain in your keyword list.
🔍 How to compare the same way
- Open the same project and the same report on both views.
- Set the same start date, end date, and timezone context.
- Match location, device, search engine, tag, and any keyword filters.
- Confirm whether the number is latest position, keywords ranking on any day, or an average for the range.
- Refresh the report after filters are set so both views finish loading the same dataset.
If one number is “keywords currently ranking” and the other is “keywords that ranked at any point,” they should not be equal. Use one definition for reporting.
⚙️ Common reasons for a mismatch
- Different windows: a 7-day view excludes rankings that happened earlier in the month.
- Movement during the range: a keyword can rank on some days and fall off on others. The period total and the latest-day total then diverge.
- Partial tracking: keywords added mid-range have fewer checks than keywords tracked for the full range.
- Filters: country, city, device, or tag filters on one view but not the other change the count.
- Unranked keywords: the keyword list can be larger than the ranking count because not every tracked term has a position.
- Timing: a report opened before the latest check finishes can differ from one opened after processing completes.
âś… What to check first
Write down both numbers, the exact dates, and the filters on each screen. Then open a single report, apply those same settings, and read the ranking total only from that report. Small differences that disappear after matching dates and filters are expected. A gap that remains after those checks are aligned is worth a support review.
For stakeholders, label the metric in plain language, such as “keywords ranking on the last day” or “keywords with a ranking at any point in March,” so two correct totals are not treated as a conflict.

If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be instantly connected with a member of our team.
Include the project name, both counts, the two date ranges, and a short note of the filters you used. That lets the team compare the same views quickly.
