📊 What missing analysis means
OTTO does not mark individual dates as missing analysis. Traffic results in OTTO come from a connected Google Search Console property. If Search Console is not connected, OTTO tells you to connect it. Google Analytics 4 is connected separately and feeds sessions, conversions, and the UX score. A gap is a connection or property problem, not a loss of your live website.
🔍 Common reasons analytics do not appear
- Google Analytics 4 must be linked to the Search Console property for this project's domain. Authorizing a Google account alone does not connect analytics for the project.
- The wrong GA4 property can be linked, so another site's data, or no data, is used. Search Atlas does not ask you to pick a data stream. It uses the first web data stream on the property you select.
- The date range has no data yet, including future dates or days before tracking was installed.
- Permissions changed after the Google account owner removed access or switched accounts.
- The tracking snippet is missing or blocked, so visits are not recorded.
- A new connection does not need 24–48 hours before OTTO charts fill. Analytics reports are requested from Google when you open them. Google's own data can lag, and Search Console data usually trails by about a day.
🛠️ Check the project and date range
- Open the affected project in Search Atlas and confirm its domain is the site you expect. Then link the GA4 property that belongs to that domain.
- In OTTO, check whether Search Console is connected and whether traffic results are showing. OTTO does not flag individual dates as missing analysis.
- Set the report range to a recent period that should already have traffic, such as Last Month, and refresh the page.
- If the flagged date is in the future, or before the site was tracked, OTTO cannot show analysis for it. Choose dates after tracking went live.
⚙️ Reconnect analytics
- Go to Settings, then Integrations, and open Google Analytics. To attach analytics to this project, choose the GA4 property for its domain. Connect Search Console for that domain first, because the GA4 link is saved against that property.
- Disconnect the current analytics account if it shows an error, expired access, or the wrong property.
- Connect again with a Google account that has at least read access to the correct property.
- Select the GA4 property that matches this domain. Do not select a test, staging, or unrelated property. You are not asked to choose a data stream.
- Save the property, then return to the project and refresh. Reports load from Google Analytics when you open them. They are not held for 48 hours.
💡 Confirm tracking on the website
Analytics can only sync if the site records visits. Ask your developer or site owner to confirm the measurement ID is installed on all public pages, including the homepage and key landing pages. Cookie banners, tag managers, and ad blockers can prevent hits. After a fix, browse the site yourself, then check the analytics property for a new session before expecting OTTO to update.
🚀 After data returns
Once data is available, OTTO uses Search Console traffic and GA4 engagement to inform SEO work, including the UX score. Recheck the same report range. If only one day is empty but nearby days have data, that day may have had no measurable visits. Gaps across many days usually mean Search Console or the linked GA4 property still needs attention.
