🔍 What Is Happening?
You moved your website from GoHighLevel (GHL) to Vercel and deleted the old GHL project. OTTO can still show GHL as the detected CMS. Deleting the project in GHL does not tell Search Atlas the site moved, so the label stays until the site is crawled again. This is common after a migration and is usually easy to fix.
Deleting the project in GHL does not tell Search Atlas that your site has moved. OTTO stores the CMS it detected from the last crawl of your homepage, and that label stays until a new crawl reads the live site and updates it.
🧠 Why OTTO Still Shows GHL
There are a few common reasons:
- Detected CMS: Search Atlas still has GHL saved because the last crawl of your homepage matched GoHighLevel. It is a detection result, not a site type or connection method you selected.
- DNS has not fully updated: Your domain may still point to GHL servers, or the change has not spread across the internet yet. This can take up to 24-48 hours.
- Cached pages: Your browser, a CDN, or a caching service may still serve an older version of your site that was built on GHL.
- Leftover GHL code: Old GHL scripts, tracking snippets, or links may still be in your new site's code or templates.
- Old integration still connected: The GHL integration may still be linked to your Search Atlas account, even though the GHL project no longer exists.
✅ Before You Start: Quick Checklist
Check these first so you can rule out the most common causes:
- Your site loads correctly on Vercel at your live domain (not just the Vercel preview URL).
- Your domain's DNS records point to Vercel.
- Your domain has an active, valid SSL certificate in Vercel.
- You can open your site in a private or incognito window and see the new Vercel version.
🛠️ Step-by-Step: How to Fix It
- Confirm your domain points to Vercel. In your Vercel dashboard, open your project's domain settings and make sure the domain shows as valid and configured. If it shows an error, fix the DNS records first.
- Wait for DNS to finish updating. If you changed DNS recently, allow up to 48 hours. You can check with a free DNS lookup tool to see whether your domain now points to Vercel.
- Clear your caches. Clear your browser cache, and purge any CDN or caching tool you use. In Vercel, you can also redeploy your project to make sure the newest version is live.
- Remove leftover GHL code. Check your site's header, footer, and templates for old GHL scripts, embed codes, or links, and remove anything you no longer need.
- Recrawl the site in Search Atlas. Open Site Audit for this project and choose Recrawl or Recrawl Site. OTTO reads the live homepage and replaces the GHL label when the page no longer matches GoHighLevel. There is no CMS setting to change, and Vercel is not an OTTO CMS option.
- Delete the old GHL connector. Go to Settings, open CMS Connectors, find the GoHighLevel connector, and choose Delete. This stops Search Atlas from publishing content to GHL. It does not change the CMS label OTTO shows.
- Reinstall OTTO on the new site. Open the OTTO installation guide and add the OTTO script to the site now hosted on Vercel, then run the installation check so OTTO can verify the new site. Moving the site does not carry the old installation with it.
- Re-check your project. Refresh the page in Search Atlas and confirm the CMS or connection status no longer shows GHL.
💡 Tips to Avoid This Issue in Future Migrations
- Update your Search Atlas project settings before deleting your old CMS project.
- Keep the old site live until the new one is fully working and DNS has finished updating.
- After any migration, test your site in an incognito window to avoid seeing cached content.
- Remove old integrations and scripts as part of your migration checklist.
- Keep the same domain if you can. A domain change may need a new project setup.
