🔗 Connecting Google Search Console and Cloudflare

Last updated on Oct 26, 2026

❓ The Short Answer

Google Search Console (GSC) and Cloudflare are two separate tools. Connecting GSC to Search Atlas does not require a Cloudflare account. You only need Cloudflare if your website already uses it, or if you choose a setup method that relies on it.

  • Google Search Console: shares your search performance data (clicks, impressions, rankings) with Search Atlas.
  • Cloudflare: is a website and DNS service. It is only relevant for certain site setup or deployment options.

🌐 Which Site Address Should I Enter?

Enter the site address exactly as it appears in your Google Search Console account. GSC uses two property types, and the format differs slightly:

  • Domain property: shown without a prefix, for example example.com.
  • URL-prefix property: shown with the full address, for example https://www.example.com/. Include the https:// and any www, and keep the trailing slash.

If the address does not match your GSC property, the connection may fail or show no data.

🔍 How to Find Your Property in Google Search Console

  1. Sign in to Google Search Console with the Google account that manages your website.
  2. Click the property selector in the top-left corner of the page.
  3. Find your website in the list and note exactly how it is written.
  4. Copy that address and use it when connecting in Search Atlas.

If your website is not listed, you need to add and verify it in Google Search Console first. Search Atlas can only connect to properties your Google account already has access to.

🔌 How to Connect Google Search Console in Search Atlas

  1. Open the Google Search Console connection prompt in your Search Atlas project.
  2. Click the option to connect and sign in with the Google account that has access to your property.
  3. Approve the permissions Google asks for so Search Atlas can read your search data.
  4. Select the property that matches your website address.
  5. Save or confirm the connection and wait a few minutes for your data to begin syncing.

☁️ Do I Need a Cloudflare Account?

It depends on how your website is set up:

  • Your site already uses Cloudflare: you already have an account. Sign in with it if a setup step asks for Cloudflare access.
  • Your site does not use Cloudflare: you do not need one just to connect Google Search Console. Only create one if you choose a setup method that requires it.
  • You are not sure: ask whoever manages your domain or hosting whether your DNS runs through Cloudflare.

Search Atlas does not need a Cloudflare account to read your Google Search Console data. If a Cloudflare step appears during setup, follow the on-screen instructions for that step, or ask our team to confirm whether it applies to you.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • My site does not appear in the list: confirm you are signed in with the correct Google account and that the property is verified in GSC.
  • The connection fails: check that the address matches your GSC property exactly, including https://, www, and the trailing slash.
  • No data is showing: new connections can take some time to sync. Newly added GSC properties may also need several days before Google has data to share.
  • I am not sure whether I use Cloudflare: check with your web developer or hosting provider before creating a new account, because a second account can cause confusion.
