## **🔍 Overview**

Many customers want to add a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) metric, such as **leads**, to a report or dashboard they already have in Search Atlas. You can ask Atlas Agent to do this in plain language, without building the report by hand. This article explains how to make the request, what to check first, and what to do if the metric does not appear.

## **💡 What to Know About GA4 Metrics First**

Before you ask Atlas Agent to add a metric, it helps to know how GA4 handles the data.

- GA4 does not have a built-in metric called "Leads." Leads are usually tracked as an **event**, such as a form submission, a click on a phone number, or a booking.
- If your site owner has marked that event as a **key event** (formerly called a conversion) in GA4, it can be reported as a count of key events or conversions.
- Atlas Agent can only report on data that exists in your connected GA4 property. If GA4 is not recording the lead event, there is nothing for the report to show.

In short, the metric you see in your report will match how leads are set up in your own GA4 account.

## **✅ Before You Start: Checklist**

- Your **GA4 account is connected** to Search Atlas, and you picked the correct property for the site.
- You have **access to the report or dashboard** you want to change.
- Your **lead event is already being tracked** in GA4. If you are not sure, ask whoever manages your website or analytics.
- You know the **exact name** of the event or key event, for example generate\_lead or form\_submit. This helps Atlas Agent pick the right one.

## **🛠️ How to Ask Atlas Agent to Add a GA4 Metric**

1. Open the **report or dashboard** you want to update in Search Atlas.
2. Open **Atlas Agent** from within the platform.
3. Type a clear request that names the metric, the data source, and the report. For example: **Add the leads metric from GA4 to this report.**
4. If your leads are tracked under a specific event name, include it. For example: **Add GA4 key events for generate\_lead to this report as Leads.**
5. Review what Atlas Agent proposes. Confirm the metric name, the data source (GA4), and the date range are correct.
6. Approve the change and check that the new metric shows in your report.

## **💬 Example Requests You Can Copy**

- Add GA4 leads to this report.
- Add the key events metric from GA4 to this dashboard and label it Leads.
- Show GA4 form submissions by month in this report.
- Add GA4 conversions next to organic sessions so I can compare them.

The more specific you are about the metric name, time period, and where it should appear, the better the result.

## **⚠️ Common Issues and How to Fix Them**

- **The metric shows zero or no data.** Check that the lead event is firing in GA4 and is marked as a key event. New events can take up to 24 to 48 hours to appear in reports.
- **Atlas Agent cannot find a metric called Leads.** Try asking for the specific event name or for key events or conversions instead.
- **The numbers do not match GA4.** Make sure the date range, property, and filters (such as organic traffic only) are the same in both places. GA4 can also adjust recent data after the fact.
- **GA4 data is missing entirely.** Reconnect your GA4 account and confirm you have permission to view the property.
- **The metric was added to the wrong report.** Open the correct report first, then repeat your request so Atlas Agent knows where to place it.

## **🚀 Tips for Better Results**

- Open the target report before you send your request.
- Ask for one change at a time, then check the result before adding more.
- Use the same names your team uses in GA4 so the metric is easy to recognize.
- If the first result is not quite right, reply to Atlas Agent with what to change instead of starting over.
