## **🔍 Overview**

Before Search Atlas can show your rankings, traffic, and optimization data, it needs to know about your website and have access to your Google data. This article walks you through adding a new site, connecting **Google Search Console (GSC)** and **Google Analytics (GA)**, and what to know if your website is built on **GoHighLevel**.

## **✅ Before You Begin**

Having these ready will make setup much faster:

- The exact web address (domain) of your site, including whether it uses **https** and whether it uses **www**.
- The Google account that has access to your Google Search Console property.
- The Google account that has access to your Google Analytics property (GA4).
- Admin or editor access to your website, or to your GoHighLevel account if your site is built there.

**Tip:** Use the same Google account for Search Atlas, GSC, and GA whenever possible. This avoids most permission errors.

## **🌐 Step 1: Add Your New Site**

1. Log in to your Search Atlas account.
2. Open the site or project selector and choose the option to add a new site.
3. Enter your domain exactly as it appears in your browser, for example **https://www.yourdomain.com**.
4. Confirm the details and save.

Once saved, your new site appears in your site list. You can switch between sites at any time using the selector.

## **📈 Step 2: Connect Google Search Console**

Google Search Console gives Search Atlas your search performance data, such as clicks, impressions, and the keywords you appear for.

1. Open your new site in Search Atlas and go to the integrations or connections area.
2. Choose **Google Search Console** and click connect.
3. Sign in with the Google account that has access to your property.
4. Approve the permissions Google asks for.
5. Select the correct property for your site from the list.

If your site is not in the list, it likely has not been added to Google Search Console yet. In that case:

- Go to Google Search Console and add your site as a new property.
- Verify ownership using one of the methods Google offers, such as an HTML tag, DNS record, or your existing Google Analytics.
- Return to Search Atlas and reconnect.

New properties can take a few days before data begins to appear. This is normal and comes from Google, not Search Atlas.

## **📊 Step 3: Connect Google Analytics**

Google Analytics shows how visitors behave on your site, including sessions, sources, and conversions.

1. In your site's integrations or connections area, choose **Google Analytics** and click connect.
2. Sign in with the Google account that has access to your GA4 property.
3. Approve the permissions requested.
4. Select the correct account, property, and data stream for your site.

If you do not have a GA4 property yet, create one in Google Analytics first. Then add its tracking code (your **Measurement ID**, which starts with G-) to your website so data starts flowing.

## **🛠️ Setting Up a GoHighLevel Website**

If your site is built and hosted in GoHighLevel, the steps in Search Atlas are the same. The main difference is that some verification and tracking codes must be added inside GoHighLevel.

1. **Connect your custom domain.** Make sure your domain is correctly connected and live in GoHighLevel, so that the address you add to Search Atlas loads your website.
2. **Add the site in Search Atlas** using your live domain, as described in Step 1.
3. **Verify with Google Search Console.** If you choose the HTML tag method, copy the tag Google gives you and paste it into the header or head tracking code area of your GoHighLevel website or site settings. Publish your changes, then click verify in Google.
4. **Add Google Analytics.** Paste your GA4 Measurement ID or tracking script into the header tracking code area in GoHighLevel, then publish.
5. **Connect both in Search Atlas** using Steps 2 and 3 above.

**Important:** Always publish your GoHighLevel site after adding any code. Changes that are saved but not published will not be visible to Google.

## **⚠️ Troubleshooting Common Issues**

- **My property does not appear in the list:** You are probably signed in to a different Google account, or the property has not been created or verified yet. Disconnect, then reconnect with the correct account.
- **Verification keeps failing:** Check that the code is in the head section, that the site is published, and that you are verifying the exact version of the domain (http or https, with or without www).
- **No data showing after connecting:** New connections can take a few days to show data. Google Analytics only records data from the moment tracking is installed.
- **Permission errors:** Make sure your Google account has at least the required access level on the property, and that you approved all permission checkboxes during sign-in.
- **Wrong site connected:** Disconnect the integration and reconnect, selecting the correct property this time.

## **💡 Best Practices**

- Use the exact same domain version everywhere: Search Atlas, GSC, GA, and your website.
- Connect GSC and GA as soon as you add a site so historical data is captured.
- Check your connections after any domain change or website migration.
