## **🔍 Overview**

If you try to disconnect a Google Business Profile (GBP) and see a message saying you must first disable the lock, you are running into the **GBP Data Locked** toggle. It is a safeguard that prevents a profile from being disconnected by accident. This article explains what the toggle does, how to find it, and how to disconnect your profile once it is off.

## **🔒 What Is the GBP Data Locked Toggle?**

GBP Data Locked is a protection setting on a connected profile. While it is on, the connection between Search Atlas and your Google Business Profile is protected, so the profile cannot be disconnected until you turn the setting off.

- It is a **toggle switch** with a text label, not a padlock icon. This is why many people cannot spot it at first.
- It exists to protect your profile data from accidental changes or removal.
- Turning it off is a deliberate step that confirms you really want to make changes to the connection.

## **🧭 How to Find the Toggle**

Because the toggle is labeled with text rather than an icon, look for the words **GBP Data Locked** instead of a lock symbol. To find it:

1. Log in to your Search Atlas account.
2. Open the **Google Business Profile** (GBP) section of the platform.
3. Select the profile you want to disconnect.
4. Look through the profile's settings or details area for a switch labeled **GBP Data Locked**.

If the profile is locked, the switch will appear in the **on** position.

## **🔓 How to Disable GBP Data Locked and Disconnect Your Profile**

1. Open the profile you want to disconnect, as described above.
2. Find the **GBP Data Locked** toggle.
3. Click the toggle to switch it **off**. Confirm the change if the platform asks you to.
4. Wait a moment for the setting to save, then refresh the page if the status does not update.
5. Click the **Disconnect** option for that profile.
6. Confirm the disconnection when prompted.

Once the profile is disconnected, it should no longer appear as an active connection in your account.

## **❓ What Happens After You Disconnect?**

- Search Atlas stops managing and syncing that profile.
- Your actual Google Business Profile is **not deleted**. It still exists in your Google account.
- You can reconnect the profile later by linking your Google account again.

If you plan to reconnect the same profile later, make sure you can still sign in to the Google account that manages it.

## **🛠️ Troubleshooting**

If you still cannot disconnect your profile, try these checks:

- **You cannot see the toggle:** Make sure you have selected the individual profile and are not viewing a general list. Refresh the page or try a different browser window.
- **The toggle will not switch off:** Check that you are logged in as the account owner or a user with permission to manage connections. Team members with limited access may not be able to change this setting.
- **The Disconnect option is still unavailable:** Wait a few seconds after turning the toggle off, then refresh the page and try again.
- **An error message appears:** Take a screenshot of it. It will help our team resolve the issue faster.
- **The wrong profile is selected:** If you manage several locations, confirm you have opened the correct one before making changes.

## **💡 Quick Tips**

- Look for the words **GBP Data Locked**, not a padlock icon.
- Always disable the toggle first, then disconnect.
- Double-check the profile name before confirming, especially if you manage multiple locations.
- Disconnecting does not delete your Google Business Profile.
