Seeing a $150 payment marked as Pending means Search Atlas has created a $150 invoice that has not been paid yet. It is not a temporary bank hold. This article explains what Pending means on an invoice, where to check it, and what to do if the charge did not go through.

## **🔎 What Does Pending Mean?**

In Search Atlas, Pending means the invoice has been created and has not been successfully charged yet. It does not mean your bank is holding the funds. When a charge succeeds, the invoice is marked Paid right away. When a charge is declined, it is marked Failed right away.

A Pending invoice does not clear on its own. Open Billing, go to the Invoices tab, and use Pay on that invoice. You can also update the card on Plans & Top-ups so the next charge attempt can succeed.

## **⏱️ How Long Does a Pending Payment Take?**

How long an invoice stays Pending depends on whether the charge succeeds in Search Atlas, not on your bank's settlement time. As a general guide:

- A successful card payment is marked Paid immediately. It does not stay Pending for 1 to 3 business days.
- International cards are not given extra days in Pending. If the bank declines the charge or requires verification that is not completed, the invoice is marked Failed and you need to pay it again or update the card.
- Weekends and public holidays do not keep a Search Atlas invoice Pending. The status changes when the charge succeeds or fails, including on non-business days.

You do not need to wait. If the invoice is still Pending, pay it from the Invoices tab or update your payment method. Contact support if a charge succeeded at your bank but the invoice did not change to Paid.

## **🤔 What Do You Mean by Releasing a Payment?**

Customers who ask us to release a pending payment are usually in one of two situations. Pending itself only means the invoice is unpaid.

- You want the invoice paid: the plan or feature tied to that invoice is not activated by it until the payment succeeds. Pay the invoice from the Invoices tab. If this is a renewal, your subscription can remain accessible while payment recovery is in progress, but the invoice itself stays unpaid until a charge succeeds.
- You do not want the charge: if the invoice is still Pending, it has not been collected. A duplicate or mistaken charge can be reviewed only after it has been paid. Contact support and ask for a refund review. Search Atlas does not show a button that releases a bank hold.

Please note that a hold placed by your bank or card issuer is controlled by that bank. It cannot be removed instantly from our side. If a charge needs to be cancelled or refunded, our team can review it and tell you what is possible.

## **✅ Steps to Take First**

1. Open Billing from the profile menu and select the Invoices tab. Find the $150 invoice and read its status. Pending or Open means it is unpaid, Paid means the charge succeeded, and Failed or Error means the charge did not succeed. Canceled and Refunded are also shown. This is not the same as the subscription status on the Services tab.
2. You can also check your bank or card app. Use it only to see whether a charge was actually submitted. The invoice status in Search Atlas is what determines whether the $150 is unpaid, paid, or failed. A pending line at your bank does not mean the Search Atlas invoice is waiting to clear.
3. Make sure your card details are current and the card has sufficient funds and is enabled for online or international payments.
4. If your bank asks you to approve the payment in its app or with a one-time code, complete that prompt during checkout. If it is not completed, the charge fails and the invoice is marked Failed. It does not remain Pending until the bank finishes verification.
5. If the invoice is Pending or Failed, pay it from the Invoices tab. You do not need to wait 1 to 3 business days. If the charge already succeeded and was duplicated or made in error, contact support so the paid invoice can be reviewed for a refund.

## **⚠️ Common Reasons a Payment Stays Pending**

- Bank verification was not completed: the charge fails instead of staying Pending. Approve the prompt and pay the invoice again.
- A weekend or holiday does not pause a Search Atlas invoice. If it is still Pending after the weekend, it is unpaid and can be paid from the Invoices tab.
- An authorization hold on your bank statement is controlled by your bank. In Search Atlas, Pending means the invoice is unpaid, not that a bank is holding funds for later settlement.
- **Card limits or restrictions:** daily spending limits or blocks on online payments can slow or stop a charge.
- **Duplicate attempts:** retrying a payment can create more than one pending hold. Extra holds normally drop off automatically once the bank releases them.

## **🔁 If You Made More Than One Attempt**

If you tried to pay more than once, you may see several $150 pending entries. In most cases only one becomes a real charge, and the others are released by your bank automatically, usually within 3 to 7 business days. Please avoid repeated retries while a payment is pending, as this can create more holds.

## **📝 What to Prepare Before Asking for Help**

Having these details ready helps our team review your case quickly:

- The date you made the payment and the amount ($150).
- The name on your Search Atlas account and the plan you were paying for.
- The last four digits of the card used. Never share the full card number or security code.
- A screenshot of the pending payment from your billing page or bank app.
- Whether you want the payment to complete or want the charge cancelled.

## **❓ Quick Answers**

- **Will I lose my $150?** No. A pending payment is either completed or released back to your available balance.
- **Can Search Atlas remove a bank hold instantly?** Not always. Bank holds are controlled by your card issuer, but our team can review the payment and advise on the next step.
- **Should I pay again?** It is best not to. Paying again while the first payment is pending can lead to duplicate charges.
- **How soon should I ask for help?** If the payment has been pending longer than 7 business days, or you see a duplicate charge, reach out through the chat widget right away.
