## **📘 How Atlas Agent credits work**

Atlas Agent uses credits for metered requests. Your available balance is managed by your account’s credit quota and any approved overage buffer.

Before a request starts, Search Atlas checks whether enough credits are available. If your metered credits and overage buffer are exhausted, the request is stopped and you may receive a 402 error.

## **🔢 How credits are consumed**

1. You submit an Atlas Agent request.
2. The request is processed and its cost is calculated.
3. Usage is recorded in the credit transaction ledger.
4. The recorded amount is deducted from your available Atlas Agent quota.

Usage is recorded asynchronously. This means a request may finish before its credit deduction appears in account usage information. Short delays between activity and displayed consumption are expected.

## **🔍 How to check your available credits**

Open the platform’s billing or credit-usage area to review the balance and usage information available for your account. The exact balance depends on your plan, credit allocation, completed deductions, and any enabled overage buffer.

If your account uses Universal Credits, credit meters may not appear in the Billing page in some cases. This is a known visibility limitation, so the displayed information may not provide a complete breakdown of Atlas Agent usage.

## **🧾 How to review three days of consumption**

1. Record your current available credit balance.
2. Review the Atlas Agent activity completed during the three-day period.
3. Allow time for asynchronous usage records to finish processing.
4. Compare the balance before and after the period, when both values are available.
5. Use the available credit transactions or usage records to match deductions to requests.

The total change in balance may also include other metered activity, adjustments, or overage usage. For an accurate Atlas Agent-only total, compare individual transaction records when they are available rather than relying only on the overall balance.

## **⚠️ Why usage may look different**

- Credit deductions can appear after the request completes.
- Usage information may be temporarily incomplete while records are being processed.
- Universal Credits accounts may not show all consumption meters in Billing.
- When metering is not enabled for an account, spending may not be recorded or limited as expected.
