## **🔍 What the detection error means**

OTTO SEO should recognize an active, connected WordPress plugin so it can sync approved SEO changes, such as title tags, to your website. A message such as **“OTTO not found”** or **“No WordPress site detected”** can appear even when WordPress is connected correctly.

The error does not necessarily mean your connection is missing. It may indicate that OTTO SEO has not yet confirmed the plugin, the connection needs to be refreshed, or your site is running a cached version of the plugin connection.

## **✅ Confirm the correct OTTO setup**

1. In Search Atlas, open **AI SEO → OTTO SEO** from the left sidebar.
2. Confirm that the correct project and domain are selected.
3. Check that the WordPress plugin is installed and active on the matching website.
4. Make sure you are checking the same domain in WordPress and Search Atlas, including the correct HTTPS version and any www or non-www variation.

You do not need to look for an option named **OTTO pixel** on the OTTO SEO page. WordPress detection is based on the connected OTTO WordPress plugin, not a separate pixel setting.

## **🔄 Refresh the WordPress connection**

1. Log in to the WordPress website with administrator permissions.
2. Open the installed OTTO SEO plugin and confirm it is active.
3. If an update is available, update the plugin and save its settings.
4. In Search Atlas, return to **AI SEO → OTTO SEO** and allow the project to reload.
5. Run the available scan or refresh action, then check whether the detection message has cleared.

If the plugin was recently installed, activated, updated, or reconnected, wait a few minutes before scanning again. This gives the platform time to verify the connection.

## **🧹 Check common WordPress blockers**

- Temporarily clear the WordPress, server, CDN, and security-plugin caches.
- Confirm that a firewall or security plugin is not blocking requests from Search Atlas.
- Check that WordPress REST API access is available. Security settings that disable or restrict REST API requests can prevent detection.
- Verify that the site is publicly reachable and does not require a maintenance-mode login.
- Make sure only one intended OTTO SEO plugin connection is active for the domain.

## **📊 Verify that syncing works**

After the site is detected, select an available OTTO SEO fix, such as a title tag recommendation, and use the sync or apply action. Then confirm the change in WordPress. If detection succeeds but syncing still fails, refresh the connection and repeat the test with one fix before applying additional changes.

## **🚨 When to request help**

If the error continues after these checks, note the project name, domain, WordPress version, plugin status, and the time of your latest connection attempt. Also include a screenshot of the error and whether the site uses a CDN, firewall, or caching plugin.

If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type **human teammate** to be instantly connected with a member of our team.
