Some customers find that after asking the Website Studio AI assistant to make changes — such as removing a dark overlay, updating text, or adding an image — the assistant confirms the edit is done, but the website does not reflect the change. This article explains why this happens and how to get your changes to apply correctly.
The Website Studio AI assistant processes your requests in real time, but there are known scenarios where confirmed changes may not persist. The AI assistant may confirm a change — such as removing a dark overlay — without that change being reliably written to the page.
Send one instruction at a time. Break complex edits into separate, focused prompts. For example, first ask to remove the dark overlay and confirm it is applied before moving on to the next change.
Verify each change visually before continuing. After the AI confirms an edit, check the canvas directly. Do not rely solely on the assistant's confirmation message.
Refresh the editor if changes are not visible. If the canvas does not update after a confirmed edit, save your work, refresh the page, and reopen the project in Website Studio.
Dark overlays are a common styling element applied to hero sections and background images. If you have asked the AI to remove an overlay and it is still visible, try the following:
Ask the AI explicitly: "Remove the dark background overlay from the hero section. Do not make any other changes."
After the AI confirms, scroll to the section on the canvas and check whether the overlay is gone.
If it is still present, refresh the editor and repeat the single focused prompt.
If the overlay or other AI-confirmed changes are still not persisting after following the steps above, please escalate to our support team. Have the following ready: your project name, the exact prompt you sent to the AI assistant, and a description of what the canvas shows after the AI confirms the change.
