Resetting your OTTO SEO project tells the system to re-crawl and re-evaluate your site fresh, so all recommendations align with your new build.
This article explains when a reset is needed, what to have ready when you contact support, and what to expect after the reset is completed.
A project reset is recommended when:
You have launched a new website theme (e.g. a new Shopify theme) and OTTO is still showing errors from the old design.
Your site URL structure has changed significantly due to a rebuild.
OTTO SEO recommendations no longer match the pages or content on your live site.
You have migrated your site to a new platform or CMS.
If your site content and structure are mostly unchanged and you are only seeing a small number of outdated issues, a full reset may not be necessary. In that case, re-running a crawl may be sufficient.
Resetting an OTTO SEO project is a backend action performed by the Search Atlas support team — it cannot be completed independently through the customer-facing dashboard at this time. To get your project reset as quickly as possible, please have the following information ready before reaching out:
Your project name and associated domain (e.g. trendygardenclub.com) so the team can locate the correct project.
A brief description of the change — for example, "switched to a new Shopify theme" or "rebuilt site on a new CMS" — so the team understands the scope of the reset needed.
Confirmation that your new site is live, since the reset will trigger a fresh crawl of your current live pages.
After the support team completes the reset and a new crawl runs:
All previous issues and recommendations tied to your old site will be cleared.
OTTO SEO will generate a new set of recommendations based on your current live pages and content.
Any automated actions OTTO had applied to your old site will no longer be active, and new recommendations will be queued for your updated build.
You can review updated on-page recommendations, meta descriptions, page titles, and other automated actions from your OTTO SEO dashboard once the crawl is complete.
