## **🎯 Choose the right publishing method**

Website Studio can be added to an existing WordPress setup without replacing the current website. Before publishing, decide whether you want a new WordPress page, a subdomain, or a separate custom domain.

- **New WordPress page:** Adds the project as a page within your existing WordPress site, such as **example.com/new-page**.
- **Subdomain:** Publishes the project separately at an address such as **studio.example.com**. Your main WordPress site remains at **example.com**.
- **Custom domain:** Uses a separate domain, such as **newbrand.com**, for the Website Studio project.

## **📄 Publish as a new WordPress page**

Use this option when the project should appear as part of your existing WordPress website. It is the best choice for landing pages, campaigns, or additional site sections.

1. Open **Website Studio** from the left sidebar.
2. Open the project you want to publish.
3. Select the WordPress publishing option and choose to add the project as a new page.
4. Enter a unique page path that does not match an existing WordPress page.
5. Review the page and confirm the publishing action.

This option should create a new page rather than replace your homepage or existing content. To reduce risk, confirm the page path is unique and create a WordPress backup before publishing.

## **🌐 Publish to a subdomain**

Use a subdomain when you want the project to remain separate from the main WordPress site while still using the same brand domain.

1. Create the subdomain with your domain or hosting provider, such as **studio.example.com**.
2. Follow the Website Studio publishing instructions for the required DNS record.
3. Update DNS only for the chosen subdomain. Do not change the records for the root domain or the **www** host unless the instructions specifically require it.
4. Wait for DNS changes to propagate, then verify the subdomain.
5. Publish the Website Studio project to the verified subdomain.

DNS changes can take time to become active. If your root domain continues pointing to WordPress and only the new subdomain points to Website Studio, the existing site should remain unaffected.

## **🔗 Use a separate custom domain**

A custom domain is suitable when the project should operate as an independent website. Register or use a domain that is not currently serving your WordPress site, then connect it using the DNS records provided during Website Studio setup.

Do not replace the root-domain or **www** records for your existing WordPress domain unless you intentionally want to move that website. Confirm ownership, SSL availability, and DNS status before publishing.

## **✅ Protect your existing WordPress site**

- Back up WordPress files and the database before making changes.
- Use a staging site to test page publishing when possible.
- Never overwrite an existing page, homepage, or URL path unintentionally.
- Record your current DNS records before editing them.
- Change only the DNS record required for the selected subdomain or custom domain.
- Test the existing homepage, admin login, and key pages after publishing.

## **🧭 Find Website Studio**

In Search Atlas, open **Website Studio** from the left sidebar at **/website-studio**. From there, select the project and use its publishing or deployment options. The Website Studio workflow is separate from OTTO SEO, which is located under the AI SEO section.
