What does deactivating a team member do?

Deactivating a team member from the Team Members panel revokes their access to your workspace. It does not permanently delete their account history.

How do I restore a deactivated team member’s access?

Click your avatar in the top-right corner of the platform and select Team Members. This panel lists your workspace users, lets you change their roles, and controls their access status. Locate the deactivated member in this list to review their current status.

If the panel does not offer a way to restore their access, invite them again as a team member: click Add member, enter their email address, and select their role. Follow the confirmation steps to finish.

What if I see “User Already Exists” when inviting them again?

This happens when the person’s email is still stored in your workspace as a revoked or removed record. The system recognizes the email as existing, which blocks a new invitation. Delete that stored record from your user management settings first, then send the invitation again.

Which role should the restored member have?

Search Atlas has two roles for team members: Admin and Viewer. Admins have full access and can manage team members; Viewers have access based on the workspace they are added to and cannot manage members.

What if the seat still shows as used?

In some cases, deactivating a member does not immediately release their seat, and your used seat count stays the same. This is a known issue that requires action from our team. Contact support and include your account email address and the deactivated member’s email address.

Still need help?

Open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human to reach our support team.
