Heatmaps are a core feature of the Search Atlas PRO plan, providing visual geo-grid data for your Google Business Profile (GBP) rankings. This article explains how heatmap functionality works, what controls are available to you, and how usage relates to your billing.



## 🗺️ How Heatmaps Work on the PRO Plan

When you are on the PRO plan, heatmap functionality is **included as part of your subscription**. Heatmaps are generated automatically when you connect a Google Business Profile and set up a Local SEO tracking campaign. The data collected — including geo-grid scan results — is stored securely on Search Atlas servers and used to power your ranking reports.



## ⚙️ Can I Disable Heatmaps?

Currently, Search Atlas does **not offer a self-serve option to fully disable heatmap functionality** or automatic heatmap creation at the account level. Heatmaps are bundled into the PRO plan as a built-in feature, and there is no toggle to turn them off independently without changing your plan.

If you do not want heatmap scans to run, the options available to you are:

- **Remove your GBP integration** — Disconnecting your Google Business Profile from Local SEO will stop new heatmap scans from being generated for that location.
- **Delete existing heatmap campaigns** — You can remove individual Local SEO campaigns from your dashboard, which will stop future scans for those specific locations.
- **Downgrade your plan** — If heatmap functionality is not something you need, consider speaking with our team about a plan that better fits your requirements.

## 🗑️ Requesting Data Removal

If you would like your existing heatmap data removed from Search Atlas servers, this **cannot be done through the platform interface** and requires a manual request to our support team. To submit a data removal request:

1. Open the Search Atlas platform and locate the chat widget in the **bottom-right corner**.
2. Type **human teammate** to be connected with a member of our team.
3. Let the team member know which account and locations are affected, and that you are requesting heatmap data deletion.

Our team will confirm the scope of the request and process the removal accordingly.



## 💳 How Heatmaps Affect Your Billing

Heatmap access is included in your PRO plan subscription — it is not billed separately per scan. **You are not charged an additional fee each time a heatmap scan runs.** The cost is part of your monthly or annual plan fee. Disabling heatmaps would therefore **not reduce your current plan cost** unless you also change your subscription tier.
