## Overview

If you are working on a WordPress site in Search Atlas, installing the Search Atlas WordPress plugin is optional but recommended. It unlocks deeper on-page data, content optimization features, and faster data syncing. Missing organic keywords in a project is a separate, common issue usually related to setup steps or data population timelines. This article walks you through both topics.

## Do You Need the WordPress Plugin?

The Search Atlas WordPress plugin is **not required** to use core SEO features such as rank tracking, keyword research, or site metrics. However, installing it provides the following advantages:

- Direct content optimization from within the WordPress editor
- Faster on-page audit data syncing
- Easier publishing workflows when using the Content Genius tool
- Real-time SEO scoring inside WordPress without switching tabs

If your site runs on WordPress and you want the full Search Atlas experience, follow the installation steps below.

## How to Install the Search Atlas WordPress Plugin

1. Log in to your **WordPress admin dashboard** at `yoursite.com/wp-admin`.
2. In the left WordPress menu, go to **Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin**.
3. Choose the Search Atlas plugin **.zip** file provided by Search Atlas (the plugin is not listed in the WordPress plugin directory).
4. Click **Install Now**, then click **Activate**.
5. Once activated, open the Search Atlas plugin settings from your WordPress dashboard.
6. Enter your **Search Atlas API key**. To find your API key, log in to Search Atlas and navigate to your account settings area.
7. Save your settings. The plugin will verify the connection.

Your WordPress site is now connected to Search Atlas. Data will begin syncing within a few minutes.

## How to Add Your WordPress Site as a Project

Even with the plugin installed, you must add your domain as a project inside Search Atlas for organic keyword data to appear.

1. In Search Atlas, navigate to the project or site management area.
2. Add your domain as a new project or select an existing one.
3. Enter your full domain URL (for example, `https://jamutech.com`) and complete the setup steps.
4. Make sure the domain matches the URL on your live WordPress site exactly, including `https://` and any subdomains.

## Why Are No Organic Keywords Showing?

If your project shows zero organic keywords, there are several likely causes:

- **New project, data still loading:** After adding a domain, it can take time for organic keyword data to populate. Allow up to 24–48 hours before expecting full data.
- **Domain not yet added as a project:** Organic keyword data only appears once a domain has been properly added and configured as a project in Search Atlas.
- **Domain mismatch:** If the domain entered in your project does not exactly match your live site's URL, data may not appear correctly.

If you have completed setup and keyword data is still not appearing after 48 hours, please reach out to our support team through the chat widget in the Search Atlas dashboard so we can investigate further.
