## 🧭 Overview

Search Atlas MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets AI clients access Search Atlas tools and data directly inside your AI workflow. Search Atlas MCP is built for any MCP client, ChatGPT included. It authenticates via OAuth login (requires an active Search Atlas subscription) or with a Search Atlas API key sent in the X-API-Key header (from Settings → API Keys).



## ✅ Supported MCP Clients

Search Atlas MCP works with any MCP client, including:

- **Claude Desktop** and **Claude.ai**
- **ChatGPT**
- Any other client that implements the standard MCP protocol with full tool-calling support

If you are using one of these clients and experiencing a connection issue, that is a separate troubleshooting topic unrelated to client compatibility.



## 🔐 How to Authenticate

Search Atlas MCP supports two authentication methods:

- **OAuth login** — sign in with your Search Atlas account (requires an active Search Atlas subscription).
- **API key** — send your Search Atlas API key in the `X-API-Key` header. You can generate one from **Settings → API Keys**.
